Cuba. Cuban artists and intellectuals have the floor: UNEAC
From this April 15, and until the last day of the month, the members of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) and representatives of cultural, social and political institutions in each province, will engage in an open, frank and committed debate, with the desire to direct the destinies of the X Congress of the organization.
Culture is Homeland, Fernando Ortiz's premise, will be reaffirmed in these meetings held in Congress from the base.
This is how UNEAC reinforces its mobilizing, inclusive and transformative role, with emphasis on artistic hierarchies, it will be the great event, that ideal and firm platform to contribute to the well-being and spirituality of the nation.
For that Fidel founded UNEAC; so that there would be a committed avant-garde artistic movement, that would be a paradigm, a reference capable of exchanging, debating about the important processes that take place in the country, and accompanying the people with that vocation of service that artists and writers have, he highlighted. Marta Bonet de la Cruz, president of the organization.
The musicologist assured that the congress has been thought about from the base: From the meetings in the branches and sections that took place between January and March and had the participation of the majority of the membership throughout the country, we have extracted the thematic axes that will prevail in the analyzes of what we consider the Congress in the Provincial Committees, and also in the national event, he said.
The work of community projects, the quality of artistic teaching and the increase in the exercise of criticism are among the topics that make up the agenda of the meetings, while at the same time it will become a favorable setting for sharing experiences of impact on society.
The first woman to assume the leadership of the UNEAC, praised the role of artists and intellectuals in facing the problems that Cuba faces today, a topic that will not be missing in the provincial Balance Assemblies or in the sessions of the 10th Congress next June.
It is the way to reaffirm the vocation of service of each one of us in terms of our people, our Revolution, our Party, which has accompanied us in these five years, facing the social, political, cultural processes that our country has gone through. , he noted.
I believe that these meetings in the territories will allow us to evaluate what we have advanced and what we have not, and will allow us to make a future perspective of what corresponds to the artists and intellectuals who are members of the UNEAC heading towards the Tenth Congress.
Bonet de la Cruz called on writers and artists to focus their gaze on everything that, from culture, can confront the global colonizing wave, and to defend the identity values that sustain the nation today.
