Arequipa artist wins VII International Painting Biennial of Guayaquil, Ecuador

The work of Juan Carlos Zeballos Moscairo (Arequipa, 1976) was chosen from more than 250 participants from 33 countries.
The abstract style painting by Juan Carlos Zeballos, titled “Exploring your vulnerability”, was awarded this April 30 at the VII International Painting Biennial of Guayaquil, with the Álvaro Noboa Pontón Grand Prize.

In the same contest, there was an honorable mention for Christian Pazmiño and William Martínez from Ecuador; Julio Calle (Peru), Ursula Wroblewski (Poland), Sandra Ellouk (Israel), Fernando Antezana (Bolivia).

Born in Arequipa, in 1976, Juan Carlos Zeballos Moscairo has held 36 individual exhibitions in America and Europe as well as numerous international group exhibitions and watercolor biennials since 2000. His career is marked by his numerous awards in Peru and Europe. .

He is the winner of the 151st Salon of Versailles, being the first Latin American artist to receive this award. He also won the Taylor Foundation Prize at the Comparison Salon in 2023. He exhibited for five consecutive years at the prestigious Réalités Nouvelles Salon in Paris (2015 to 2019 and in 2021). As well as in the National Hall of Fine Arts of the Louvre Carousel (2016, 2017, 2018). And at l’orangerie du Senat (2021), at the Paris Autumn Salon (2017 to 2024), among multiple other events.

His work appears in books on Latin American and European Art, and the biographical dictionary of visual artists in France, Artfabetic.
