In "O fel do Timbó", the narrative tradition of the original peoples is illustrated with the help of advanced algorithms, breaking down the barriers between ancient wisdom and the technological vanguard
The orality of Roraima's indigenous legends gained a new visual dimension thanks to Artificial Intelligence (A.I.). In the most recent work by journalist and professor Michel Sales, “O fel do Timbó”, the narrative tradition of the original peoples is illustrated with the help of advanced algorithms, breaking down the barriers between ancient wisdom and the technological avant-garde.
Known for his ability to intertwine words and create universes, Michel now ventures into the field of graphic design without leaving aside his essence as a storyteller. For the author, “A.I. Often associated with electronic language processing, it is a versatile tool that is constantly evolving and applied in various fields, particularly in communication, education and research,” he explained.
For him, design is not left out of this technological revolution. “The A.I. has proven to be a powerful ally in generating images, democratizing access to artistic creation. I have always had an eye for the new, and I embraced this trend to give visual life to “O fel do Timbó”, a book that tells one of the many wonderful stories of the indigenous peoples of Roraima”, he reinforced.
The legend, full of metamorphoses and symbolism — where humans and animals exchange roles, teaching lessons and perpetuating culture — now unfolds in illustrations rich in details, made in record time. “Timbó’s gall is a turbulent journey”, says Sales. “And this journey, thanks to A.I., was not only told, but visually constructed in a few hours. An unthinkable time for traditional illustration techniques,” he commented.
On the first day, Michel dedicated himself to understanding the sound of the legend, delving into the accents and rhythms that accompany the oral narrative made by an elderly indigenous man, who tells fantastic stories about his people. He then restructured the language, preparing it for visual transformation. Finally, with the assistance of A.I. tools, he transmuted words into images that captured the essence of the legend.
And in addition to enriching content with precise contextual details, A.I. allowed a significant reduction in costs, an advantage that does not go unnoticed in times of increasingly challenging cultural production. The author highlighted that, instead of weeks or months in the studio, it was possible to complete the project quickly and efficiently, without sacrificing artistic quality.
O fel do Timbó, the writer's sixth book, promises to be an immersive experience, which brings not only the text, but also the vision, sound and sensation of the legend. “The work is a testimony to the human ability to tell stories and the ability of artificial intelligence to enhance this narrative, proving that technology, when well applied, can be an extension of human creativity and culture”, highlighted the author.
The book is available on online platforms, offering readers a journey through the rich oral tradition of Roraima, now immortalized in the pages of a work that is as Roraima as it is universal, thanks to the touch of modernity that A.I. offers.
