They open space for students and teachers in an exhibition about Fernando Botero

The winning works of the call will participate for a month in the exhibition that will be mounted at the Valle Oriente Gallery starting on February 22, 2025.

The Autonomous University of Nuevo León invites you to participate within the framework of the Fernando Botero Chair of Latin American Art in the collective exhibition entitled "Botero. Visuality and its legacy", from February 19 to 21, 2025.

With the intention of studying the work of the Colombian artist, the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, through the Secretariat of Extension and Culture and the Faculty of Visual Arts (FAV), created the Fernando Botero Chair of Latin American Art in 2019.
The relationship between the South American artist and the UANL dates back to 2008, when the educational institution awarded him the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa.

In 2019, Botero donated the painting “Arcángel” to the University, which is kept in the room that bears his name at the Colegio Civil Centro Cultural Universitario.

For this reason, the FAV has launched the call to participate in this collective exhibition that is aimed at the student and teaching community of the Bachelor's degrees in Visual Arts, Graphic Design and Language and Audiovisual Production and the Master's degrees in Visual Arts and Graphic Design of the Faculty of Visual Arts of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León.
The pieces must be based and conceptualized in the life and artistic work of Fernando Botero.

To participate in one of the following categories: painting, graphics, embroidery, object art, digital or analog illustration, drawing, digital or analog photography that does not exceed 70 cm in its dimensions, sculpture and installation, with a maximum weight of 10 kilos.

The work for the judging process must be sent in a digital image to the email jazminextycultura@gmail.com from the publication of this call until February 10, 2025.

The files must be sent with a brief conceptualization of the piece of 250 to 350 words in PDF format. In addition to including its technical sheet: title of the work, technique, dimensions, author, degree, enrollment, semester, year of production and instructions for its assembly.

The list of selected works will be published on the Facebook page of the Faculty of Visual Arts of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León on February 13, 2025.

The works selected for the exhibition must be delivered to the Extension and Culture office on the second floor of building A of the Faculty of Visual Arts of the UANL, ready for assembly no later than February 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., packed and accompanied by their technical sheet.

The exhibition will be located at the Valle Oriente Gallery and will last for one month. Each selected student will be given a certificate of participation.

The opening will be on Saturday, February 22 at 4:00 p.m. and will be attended by authorities and university press.
