Solidarity with Palestine. Entre Sures: Art, solidarity and resistance against genocide
We spoke with Eli Moon, curator of the "Entre Sures" project, an effort to promote dialogues and alliances between different sectors in solidarity with the resistance of the Palestinian people.
Entre Sures is a curatorial project that seeks to promote dialogues, collaborations and alliances between artists, activists and people interested in social and political art. It emerged from conversations between curators Eli Moon and Shaunak Mahbubani, from Mexico and India respectively, when they found similarities between the cultures of the so-called global South.
Under the title "Between Sures: From the River to the Sea", collective action days have been organized in collaboration with various groups and associations such as "Mexican Jews Critics for a Ceasefire", "Arrecife Eslam", "Periferika", "Inverted Crater", "Prietologies" and "Platform 420". In addition, they have the participation of artists and poets such as Bárbara Lázara, Angye Gaona and Joy Rubio, among others.
In a context of military escalation and genocidal violence in Palestine and other disputed territories, as well as in the face of practices that the curators of Entre Sures describe as "fascist" around the world, they consider that "it is crucial that the creators of art and culture unite, dialogue and form networks and alliances to resist the policies of death. That is why Entre Sures joins with other groups in defense of human rights, the protection of territory and resistance against systemic violence and its military, repressive and colonial expression.
"Through the collectivization and sharing of knowledge, missions and feelings about shared problems among populations in the Global South, the aim is to rethink art as a platform for change and social impact," highlights Eli Moon.
The program of activities includes sessions dedicated to topics such as the legacy and culture of Palestine, the Zionist nation project of Israel, anti-colonial resistance, among others. These sessions take place at Biquini Wax and other venues, with the next closing sessions scheduled for April.
This April 19, the first of two closing sessions of these Action Days in Solidity with Palestine will be held at the Biquini Wax facilities (Pedro de Alba 232, col. Iztaccihuatl, Villa de Cortés metro), which will feature with the participation of members of the Arrecife Eslam collective and their proposal for poetic activation and dissident verses for social networks.
Entre Sures: Weaving artistic alliances in times of crisis
Eli Moon tells us "We unite among Souths to defend the territory and natural and energy resources, so that fundamental human rights are respected, protected and guaranteed for everyone equally, for the right to exist, we resist and organize." collectively among populations of the Global South. Because the Palestinian cause is the cause of many causes.
The initiative seeks to build a space for reflection and action in solidarity with the Palestinian cause and other struggles for justice and freedom in the world. Admission is free for all people interested in joining this movement of resistance and artistic creation that takes the fight against the genocide in Palestine as its flag.
