Indigenous works of art are transformed into digital assets

Indigenous works of art are transformed into digital assets and raise R$14.5 million in London

Digital art uses technology and meteorological data to represent the identity of the Yawanowá community and raises money to protect indigenous territories

Works of indigenous art from the Yawanowá community were transformed into digital assets through non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and have already raised more than US$3 million on display at the Annabel’s club in London.

The collection already represents one of the highest-value sales in NFTs this year. Non-fungible tokens, which were successful in 2021 and 2022, face a drop in interest from investors.
However, this is not the case with the “Ventos de Yawanowá” collection. Created in partnership between the Yawanowá community, which is mostly located in the state of Acre, and Brazilian artist Refik Anadol, the collection seeks to raise money to protect the lands, identity and cultural heritage of the Yawanowá.
