The exhibition "Geométricos", by Venezuelan artists Mariana Copello and Luisa Duarte, opens on September 14 at the IMAGO cultural center
MIAMI.- A group of works by Venezuelan artists Mariana Copello and Luisa Duarte make up the exhibition Geométricos, which will be inaugurated in Miami on September 14, at 7 pm, at the IMAGO cultural center.

"Although their works address various formal problems and arise from different reflections, the imprint of the broad Venezuelan abstract-geometric tradition remains in them as a pivot and inspiration," says Chacón.

"Mariana Copello's work is part of the Cartesian branch of geometric art, derived from masters who, like Jesús Soto, were trained in the philosophy of pure art. Her works reveal a formal restraint forged in the study of rhythms, progressions and unfoldings of the line, the tensions that arise between geometric planes that meet and, in general, the dynamics that these elements create in their interaction with space. Her use of color is concrete. In some pieces, white on white, or subtle neutral contrasts, accentuate the appearance of rhythms and tensions. In others, flat color emphasizes the dynamic explosion of lines," says the curator.

For her part, Luisa Duarte graduated as an architect and worked professionally in this field for some years in Venezuela, so the language of geometry was perfectly installed in her thinking and creative impulses when she began her artistic career, the cultural center details in a statement.

“Despite the mathematical substratum of geometric art, the mood of Duarte’s works is emotional and poetic. Her pieces arise from situations that generate inner movements, emotions and sensations that the artist channels through those forms that are so familiar to her and that she handles with skill. Her geometry is spontaneous, since she does not resort to calculations but to subjective musings, which gives a distinctive originality to her compositions,” says Chacón.

The exhibition can be visited until January at the IMAGO spaces, 4028 SW 57 Ave, in Miami, from Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 6 pm, and on Saturdays from 10 am to 1 pm.
