Marina Vargas' exhibition 'Revelations' debuts at the Thyssen Museum in Madrid and is expected to arrive in Mexico

The contemporary artist Marina Vargas will be part of the Kora cycle that will be presented at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid in an event that seeks to give visibility to works made by female artists of the current scene with a gender perspective.
The exhibition called "Revelations" captures Vargas' artistic research where the traditional canons that represent women in history are questioned, in the context of the sacred and spiritual. However, her works on this occasion take as a starting point the figure of Mary Magdalene, inspired by studies of feminist theologians such as Karen King, Cynthia Bourgeault and Meggan Watterson.

“Revelations” marks a new milestone in contemporary art by being included in Kora, where a series of artists manage to show their commitment to the inclusion and visibility of women in art, giving the public a new form of reflection that connects the spiritual with the earthly through the multidisciplinary work of Vargas and the curatorship of Semíramis González.
Revelations will take place in this venue in Mexico

This exhibition aims to vindicate the role of women throughout the history of art, trying to break with the so-called “patriarchal silence” that, for Vargas, has relegated female artistic creations to the background.

In turn, Mexican representation is present in this great exhibition thanks to Ana Tejeda, who is part of the event by promoting the work of Marina Vargas in our country, achieving that not only is her work shown at the Thyssen-Bornemisza, but that she has her space in our country at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Querétaro starting in September.

“In countries like Mexico, where women face such complex struggles, art can be a powerful tool to raise awareness and promote change,” said Semíramis González.
