30% participation of Latin America in ARCOmadrid 2024

Latin America accounts for thirty percent of the participation in ARCOmadrid 2024
The 43rd edition of the ARCOmadrid International Contemporary Art Fair will start next March 6 until the 10th, with a notable presence of Latin American galleries. 30% represents the participation of artists from the region compared to 35% of Spanish artists. Of 132 galleries present from around the world, 38 are from Latin America, with a special presence from Mexico, Brazil and Argentina.

In total, including Spain, 205 galleries from 36 countries will arrive at the macro event. Like every year, “the fair will show the current international art scene in a broad dialogue with Spanish art,” say its organizers. “The very high quality of the projects presented by the galleries guarantees a first-class artistic experience,” they add.

“We strive to bring to Madrid the best and most attractive offer in a clear exercise of commitment to the artistic community, as well as support for creation and the promotion of collecting,” Juan Arrizabalaga, general director of IFEMA MADRID, declared on Twitter. consortium in charge of organizing the Madrid event.

Parallel to the General Program, ARCOmadrid will have three curated sections. The section “Never the same. Latin American Art”, curated by José Esparza Chong Cuy and Manuela Moscoso, will contribute to reinforcing research on Latin American creation and its relationship with all the agents present at the fair, say the curators of the event. This area of ARCO will be made up of a selection of artists from Latin America from 12 galleries such as A Gentil Carioca, Jaqueline Martins, Vigilgonzales, Isla Flotante, Millan, N.A.S.A.L., Proyectos Ultravioleta, among others.

Specifically, the Caribbean will also receive particular attention within the framework of the fair, as it will be the region that will be honored this year. In 2023, the special tribute went to the Mediterranean. “The shore, the tide, the current: an oceanic Caribbean” will be the theme of the tribute, curated by Carla Acevedo-Yates and Sara Hermann Morera.
