An Argentine artist holds an exhibition of her works of art in Beijing
Fernanda Laguna will be exhibiting her drawings and a book of poems translated into Mandarin until March 18.
The Embassy of Argentina in China invited the public to tour the exhibition of the artist Fernanda Laguna, a prominent figure in the contemporary Argentine artistic field who takes her first steps in the Asian giant with an exhibition of her drawings and a book of translated poems. to Mandarin.
The exhibition began last Monday, February 12 and will take place until Monday, March 18 in Beijing, at the Spanish-language bookstore, Mil Gotas (Bitaomai Life Plaza, Jiuxianqiao Road, Chaoyang district). Admission is free, allowing all interested parties to immerse themselves in the creative world of this talented Argentine artist.
Laguna spoke about this experience in an interview with Télam where she told details of this new challenge. “The drawings are part of a large illustrated intimate diary that I started many years ago,” explains the artist about the 30 original works currently on display.
In addition to her drawings, the exhibition in Beijing includes her book of poems “A telepathic call for help,” translated into Mandarin and published by Mil Gotas publishing house, and a collection of books from her artisanal label “Beauty and Happiness.”
Although the presentation in Beijing will conclude on March 18, Laguna's works will be exhibited in Chongqing and finally in Songzhuang, where Mil Gotas will inaugurate an artistic gallery dedicated to Latin American art.
Who is Fernanda Laguna?
Fernanda Laguna is a multifaceted figure in the Argentine art world. From the Argentine embassy in China they point out that Fernanda, recognized as a visual artist, poet and curator, has left a significant mark on the cultural scene of her country of origin. Since 1994, she has exhibited her work individually in various galleries and cultural spaces in Argentina, earning recognition from critics and fans alike.
In 2003, Laguna founded the Belleza y Felicidad Art School and Gallery in Villa Fiorito, a project that has not only been a space for the exhibition and promotion of contemporary art, but also a vital cultural center for the local community. Currently, Fernanda directs and coordinates this school, demonstrating her commitment to art as a tool for social transformation.
In recent years, the Argentine artist presented her works at The Drawing Center in New York and the Institute for Contemporary Art, VCU, in Virginia, in addition to participating in numerous international biennials and group exhibitions. His works are part of the collections of emblematic institutions such as the Guggenheim Museum and the Museum of Modern Art (Moma) in New York, the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires (Malba), the Rufino Tamayo in Mexico and the Reina Sofía Art Center in Madrid, among others.
