For the second consecutive year, ZsONAMACO reaffirms the award ceremony

The most important art fair in Mexico ZsONAMACO announces for the second consecutive year the awards that will recognize the participating artists in its 2025 edition, which will take place from February 5 to 9 at the Citibanamex Center, Mexico City. These recognitions seek to highlight the talent, creativity and impact of the artistic proposals that make up the vibrant panorama of contemporary art.

Through a statement it is indicated that with the aim of promoting innovation and making visible the work of emerging and established artists, ZsONAMACO 2025 will feature the award ceremony in various categories. These distinctions are not only a recognition of the effort and dedication of the creators, but also an opportunity to position their works on the international art scene.
It indicates that Erarta Foundation and ZsONAMACO are proud to present, for the second time, the 2025 art prize, an extraordinary opportunity valued at 100 thousand dollars, the largest prize awarded at an art fair. The winner will be chosen by the fair attendees from a list carefully selected by Erarta Foundation and ZsONAMACO, The Highlight of the Show. The vote will be public and the work that receives the most votes will be the winner. The prize money will be divided equally between the artist and the gallery that represents him or her and will be officially presented by representatives of the Foundation and ZsONAMACO on the closing day, February 9, 2025.

Likewise, Tequila 1800 is proud to reaffirm its commitment as a promoter of art, culture and design. Through the Tequila 1800 Colección Prize that has been held for 17 years within ZsONAMACO with the purpose of supporting emerging talent. The brand consolidates its position in the art world, contributing to the promotion of successful careers of visual artists and encouraging contemporary artistic production.
The curatorial jury, with full technical freedom, will select the winners of the Tequila 1800 Colección Award from among artists who present works in painting, sculpture, object art, installation, photography, performance and mixed techniques.

Likewise, as part of the 21st edition of ZsONAMACO, AXA Mexico will award its Art Prize for the second time, an initiative aimed at Mexican galleries that seeks to promote the development of female artists in contemporary Mexican art. Under the concept of "fragility," the participating works will compete to be acquired and incorporated into the collection of the French insurance company, which has supported the preservation and care of art in Mexico for 16 years. The prize includes a maximum value of 200 thousand pesos for the winning work. Within the framework of its Bicentennial Agenda for Bolivia, the Patiño Foundation presents two initiatives for ZsONAMACO 2025: Patiño Artistic Residencies in Villa Albina, the program will select three artists (two international and one Bolivian) to develop projects in Villa Albina, Cochabamba, Bolivia. Its objective is to generate a dialogue between the local community and new artistic proposals.

The residencies will last 45 days, which will take place in two possible periods: between April and May, or between September and October. The program includes accommodation, flight, studio, full meals, as well as a support of $500 dollars for materials.

The call is open from December 20, 2024 to January 20, 2025, and is aimed at artists represented by participating galleries in ZsONAMACO. This program, inspired by the Foundation's motto based on a poem by Mario Benedetti, seeks to be a bridge between artists, communities and cultures, fostering a creative and transformative dialogue.

In collaboration with the Daniel Liebsohn Gallery, the Patiño Foundation will award a prize of 5 thousand dollars to an outstanding gallery in the General, Axes or South Section of ZsONAMACO 2025. This award recognizes curatorial proposals that act as bridges between artists, territories and artistic discourses, fostering dialogue and collaboration in Latin American art.

The award will be presented on February 7, 2025 at 1:00 p.m., within the framework of the fair. The jury is composed of Ignacio de Lascurain (Cultural Director of the Patiño Foundation), Daniel Liebsohn and Verónica González Casas.

The Patiño Foundation debuts with this initiative inspired by its Bicentennial Agenda motto, taken from the poem El puente, by Mario Benedetti, which reflects its mission of connecting cultures, territories and people through art.
Casa Wabi Foundation will also present the 2025 Women Artist Residency Award. In its fifth year, this residency award continues to honor and elevate the exceptional work of women artists participating in the ZsONAMACO 2025 edition within a featured gallery of GENERAL SECTION, ZsONAMACO EJES, and ZsONAMACO SUR.

The non-profit Casa Wabi Foundation is committed to fostering a dialogue between national and international artists and designers from various disciplines with the local communities of the Oaxaca coast. Casa Wabi's artist residencies in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, are deeply integrated with social and cultural initiatives, reflecting the Foundation's commitment to a socially engaged and culturally enriching artistic practice, benefiting the communities surrounding the house.
For the second year, the Fountainhead Arts Residency Prize will be awarded to a selected artist from the ZsONAMACO EJES section, who will complete an artist residency at Fountainhead Arts in Miami in 2026, which includes: airfare, lodging, studio space, and an active schedule of curatorial, institutional, and public visits.

Fountainhead is a preeminent artist residency focused on elevating and enriching the voices of artists; its roster of more than 550 alumni includes some of the most recognized artistic talents working in the world today.
