The JUSTMAD International Contemporary Art Fair

JUSTMAD closes its 16th edition with historic success
The JUSTMAD International Contemporary Art Fair concludes its sixteenth edition with great results, consolidating its position as the best in its 16-year history. From the opening toast organized by GQ Magazine alongside 1800 Tequila to the spontaneous applause of the gallery owners at the fair's closing, this edition has been a true celebration of emerging art and a testament to the true success of its formula.

JUSTMAD 2025 has far surpassed previous records, both in transactions and attendance. With more than 500 acquisitions of works and an audience exceeding 22,000 visitors, the fair reaffirms its role as one of the main hubs of contemporary art and an important platform for discovering emerging talent. Despite the adverse weather conditions in Madrid and the interruptions and demonstrations that converged over the past few days, collectors and art enthusiasts, as well as those interested in this fair, filled the halls of the Palacio Neptuno, demonstrating genuine interest in its offerings.

With a high-profile institutional presence, JUSTMAD received a visit from the Minister of Culture, who toured the fair for over an hour, demonstrating his support for emerging art. Furthermore, the JUST Latam section, in collaboration with Casa América, once again took center stage in this second edition, attracting collectors, critics, and several Latin American embassies in Madrid. This fruitful collaboration reinforces JUSTMAD's commitment to promoting art in all its diversity of contemporary practices and artistic sensibilities, serving as a bridge between Europe and Central and South America.

JUSTMAD presented important awards celebrating artistic talent. Among the winners are Virginia Bersabé, María Cobas, Pablo Isidoro, Xiguan Lei, Marcos Covelo, Ángel Toren, Cristina Ortega, and Carlota Pereiro, who received acquisition awards from prominent collections such as the Rucandio Collection, SERO Art Collection, Manero Marqués de Cubas, TMF, Les & Jon Art Collection, Wild Wild Web, Admiranda, and JUST THECLUB. Rafael Jiménez also received the Canal Gallery Residency Award. The performance series was a resounding success, with such notable offerings as Verónica Ruth Frías' live auction, Omar Jerez's "40 Hours of Sitting" in front of the hyperrealistic heads of Marina Abramovic and Jeffrey Epstein, Romina Rivero's continuous suturing of the Spanish flag, José Antonio Torres' fusion of sound and visuals, Rob Maldonado's augmented reality, and Aku Menditeguy's exploration of the body and space. These performances not only captivated the audience but also reinforced JUSTMAD's role as a space for experiencing contemporary art from the inside.

JUST Residence was warmly received, featuring four artists—Rafael Blanco, Valeria Real, Raquel Coba, and Yulia Bas—who developed site-specific projects in the province of Segovia and are now working to bring these works back to Segovia for exhibition. Their presentation at the fair brought together representatives from several of the towns where these artistic investigations took place, as well as from Limsama, a service company committed to the environment. supports these residencies.

Media coverage highlighted JUSTMAD's commitment to discovering and promoting new artists and innovative proposals, as well as the diversity of proposals and works presented, which included ceramics, textile art, urban art, performances, and new technologies, and gave it recognition as a key platform and essential space for Art Week.

Justmad, grateful to its sponsors and collaborators—Madrid City Council, Casa América, Safe Creative, Grupo Limsama, 1800 Tequila, and Artmour—closes its doors with satisfaction and looks forward to its next edition with a renewed commitment to continue promoting contemporary art.
