ARCO will feature 214 galleries from 36 countries, with the Amazon as its central theme
Madrid, Feb 19 (EFE).- The ARCO 2025 International Contemporary Art Fair will bring together 214 national and international galleries from 36 countries in Madrid, a section dedicated to the Amazon and a special program for international collectors
“It is going to be a very good fair, due to the quality of the participating galleries and the interest shown by national and international buyers,” said the director of the fair, Maribel López, at the press conference for the presentation on Wednesday.
Thus, from March 5 to 9, 178 galleries included in the General Program will be installed in Ifema, to which another 43 will be added in the curated programs, which this year will revolve around three axes:
- 'Wamisté: ideas for an amazofuturism', focused on the Amazon and in which 15 galleries from 6 different countries participate, especially Brazil and Argentina.
- 'Opening. New Galleries' in which 18 galleries from 13 countries that have been operating for less than 7 years will be represented with the aim of bringing new artists to the fair.
- 'Profiles/ Latin American Art', a selection of 10 galleries from 7 countries that will allow for expanded collaboration between artists and galleries from Latin America.
As part of the effort to make the fair a success for visitors and buyers, the organization has promoted an International Collectors Program that includes active collectors and buyers proposed by the galleries themselves and who will be offered access to the fair and exclusive visits.
There are about 350 international collectors and another 100 more “who were previously invited and now reside in Madrid,” said López.
The new collectors will also receive special treatment and advice thanks to 'First Collectors by Fundación Banco de Santander' and the 'Young Collectors' program that has invited more than 50 young international collectors.
The fair will also include the celebration of specific forums on collecting, the future of the Amazon and an Artists' Forum organized by Women in the Visual Arts (MAV), as well as a special section that, under the name of 'Arts Libris' will include the presence of publishers and books by artists and publications.
"We work hard for the success of the galleries and so that the artists have a voice and support to continue working," the director of the fair summed up. EFE
