Sadness in La Plata for the death of the renowned artist Lido Iacopetti

From different sectors they offered their condolences for the death of the former preceptor and teacher of the Rafael Hernández National School of La Plata, who died at the age of 88.

The renowned artist Lido Iacopetti passed away in the last hours at the age of 88. The former teacher and preceptor of the Rafael Hernández National School of La Plata was said goodbye with countless displays of affection and pain for his departure. "We want to remember him with a phrase that belongs to him and summarizes the message that Lido always preached: "A society without artistic imagination is a society without destiny," expressed from the educational establishment where Iacopetti studied. The School expressed its sorrow through the X network: "The educational community of the #CNLP regrets the death of Lido Iacopetti, former student, preceptor and teacher of our Institution ".
It is worth remembering that the artist was born in San Nicolás de los Arroyos, in Buenos Aires, in 1936. He studied painting and drawing, and studied Art History at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes of the Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP). In addition, he was one of the founders of the Museum of Contemporary Latin American Art (MACLA) in the city, while in 2000 his work was recognized as of Cultural Interest in the province of Buenos Aires.

He also received numerous awards, and in 2021 the Buenos Aires Legislature declared him an illustrious citizen. After learning of his death, social networks were filled with reminders about Lido.

From the Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes "Emilio Pettoruti" they spread a message in which they highlighted that "Iacopetti's work and his way of being were always tied together in a unique and generous way of thinking about art and life. Farewell, dear Lido!".

The news was also echoed by councillor Guillermo Bardón, who described him as “a person of deep convictions and enormous social sensitivity. His work and values ​​will be an indelible legacy”.
Former councillor Oscar Vaudagna chose the adjectives “Modest, kind and cordial” to bid him farewell, whom he also described as “Trainer of numerous artists”.
José Arteaga, president of AUBASA, also greeted him on his social networks expressing “Deep pain and sadness for the death of the beloved and renowned artist Lido Iacopetti”.
