Brasília Art Museum hosts Brasília Photo Show program with interactive activities and works that pay homage to the capital
Brasília will host a special program between April 19 and 21, in celebration of its 65th anniversary as the federal capital. In partnership with the Brasília Art Museum (MAB), the Brasília Photo Show (BPS) promotes a series of activities that are part of the official calendar of the largest photography festival in Latin America.
Over the three days, the public will be able to participate in creative workshops, cultural mediations, children's storytelling and interactive exhibitions. Admission is free and the actions focus on enhancing the city's visual identity, in addition to bringing the population closer to art and photography.
Among the highlights of the program is the “Brasília in Models” workshop, which proposes the reconstruction of iconic monuments of the city with recyclable materials. The “Abstract Art” workshop, inspired by artists such as Athos Bulcão and Francisco Galeno, invites participants to explore colors and shapes in sensory and artistic experiences.
The activities also include special mediations on the capital’s modernist architecture, highlighting the urban legacy of Lúcio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer, as well as storytelling sessions aimed at children with themes that connect with the imagination of Brasília.
One of the most anticipated attractions of the program is the exhibition “Interferência”, by the artist from Goiás Toninho Euzébio, which will be on display at MAB until April 20. The exhibition brings together works that combine manual drawing and digital photography, creating playful scenes from real landscapes.
Living in Brasília, Toninho has been developing a project since 2015 that transforms monuments, trees and buildings in the city through illustrations inserted into drawing pads. The creations are photographed with a cell phone and reimagined with humor and sensitivity. The artist has also taken his compositions to cities such as New York, Paris, Lisbon, Rio de Janeiro and Goiânia.
With international recognition, Toninho will have five works exhibited in Berlin next month, one of which is nominated for the BBA Photography Prize One Shot Award 2025. His career includes participation in solo and group exhibitions in Brazil and abroad.
The Brasília Photo Show is open to professional and amateur photographers from anywhere in the world. In ten editions, the festival has received around 120 thousand images, awarded more than 4 thousand photographs and published ten books with the best images of each year.
