The Town: Visual artist René Machado is one of those responsible for the arts on the screens and backstage at The One stage

René Machado has also created the artwork and panels for the Sunset Stage, at Rock in Rio, since 2017; visual artist was invited by Ana Biavaschi, Director of Scenography at The Town and Zé Ricardo to participate in the new Rock World festival
The City of Music, in Interlagos, will host more than 235 hours of music, with shows spread across seven large spaces, five stages and a scenography inspired by icons of São Paulo architecture. The Town is a great spectacle not only of music, but of culture and lots of art. Within the artistic context, at the invitation of Ana Biavaschi, director of scenography at The Town and Rock in Rio, the artist from Rio de Janeiro René Machado participates with his new series “Compositions” at the festival in São Paulo.



René is already known at Rock in Rio, where since 2017, he has been responsible for creating arts and panels displayed backstage at the Sunset Stage. Now, the artist, who is also one of the nominees for the 2023 Pipa Prize, recognized as the most prestigious award in Brazilian contemporary art, has several works backstage at The One stage, and also projected on the stage's screens, during show breaks.


The stage has the concept of representing the culture and museums of São Paulo and has works displayed between each show. René Machado also carried out activations inside the dressing rooms, which are being occupied by artists such as Racionais MC's, Criolo, Seu Jorge, Ney Matogrosso, Ne-Yo, Angélique Kidjo, Gloria Groove, Marina Sena, Pabllo Vittar and much more.

The festival took place this weekend and continues on the 7th, 9th and 10th of September in Cidade da Música, at the Autódromo de Interlagos, in São Paulo.

Visual artist René Machado has been gaining more and more recognition for his work by critics, curators, collectors, and people linked to the arts circle. In 2023, René entered the ranking of the 10 most sought after artists by collectors within the ArtRio marketplace, one of the largest fairs in the segment in Latin America. After The Town, represented by Lemos de Sá Galeria, René will exhibit around ten new works in his first solo show at ArtRio, which reaches its 13th edition this year, from September 13th to 17th at Marina da Glória, in Rio de Janeiro.



Then, the artist leaves for his first solo show in Belo Horizonte with Lemos de Sá Galeria. The exhibition will open on September 30th, with a critical text by Vanda Klabin.

His works have toured several countries and art institutions such as: Brazil, USA, Italy, Spain and France. They appear in important collections, highlighting Luciano Benetton and the Fadel collection. In 2020, he created Casa Arlette, a center for contemporary artistic production, which in addition to resident artists, became a meeting space between intellectuals across art genres.
