Art exhibitions in Bogotá to see the works of world-renowned Colombian artists
You will find works by none other than Ana Mercedes Hoyos and Jorge Riveros. Admission is free and you will find paintings, sculptures and more
If there is a truly unmissable plan, it is to visit art exhibitions in Bogotá and even better if admission is free and you will see works by two great Colombian artists who have managed to grow worldwide. Such as the painting and sculpture of a figure of Colombian and Latin American modernism, Ana Mercedes Hoyos or exploring the relationships between lines, surfaces, color and light by the artist Jorge Riveros.
This enriching experience is being presented at the Alonso Garcés Gallery, directed by Reinaldo Annicchiarico, who has participated in important projects with prominent artists such as Luis Caballero. In addition, he collaborates in the creation of dialogues between art and spectators through exhibitions and critical analysis focused on expressionism and the symbolic dimensions of the human body.
So this time this exhibition will not be the exception of diversity and a mix of Colombian culture, perspectives and art. Let us remember that Hoyos is characterized by his unique and representative painting of the Afro-Colombian identity. In fact, “Hoyos saw painting as an intellectual effort, evoking Leonardo da Vinci’s belief in the medium as a mental thing.” states Viola. An Italian art critic and curator, born in Naples, who earned a PhD in Methods and Methodologies of Archaeological and Historical-Artistic Research.
While Riveros’ work stands out for its full abstraction and rigorous geometry. “Riveros invites the viewer to look beyond the apparent calm of his compositions. The lines, careful and calculated, interact with the colors in a game of attraction that reflects an internal world. An art that, far from being limited to contemplation, demands active participation from the observer,” explains the director of the Alonso Garcés Gallery.
