Registration is now open for the largest student festival in Latin America, the UNE Biennial
Students from all over Brazil interested in submitting works for the art exhibition and also for the science exhibition have until the 25th of this month to register
The 14th edition of the largest student festival in Latin America, the UNE Biennial, already has a date and location to take place. The event will take place from January 29 to February 2, 2025, in various spaces on the Recife Campus of the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), in the West Zone of Recife.
Students from all over Brazil interested in submitting works for the art exhibition (in the areas of body arts, visual arts, audiovisual, photography, literature and music) and also for the science exhibition have until the 25th of this month (December 2024) to register their works. Registrations must be made on the biennial website.
Students selected for the exhibitions will be exempt from the registration fee. For those interested in participating, registration is open until the day of the event. Further information can be found in the announcement for the Cultural Art Exhibition and the Student Science Exhibition.
About the UNE Biennial
The UNE Biennial is a festival of culture, art, science and technology that maps, connects and presents the most interesting productions inside and outside Brazilian universities. It is considered the largest student gathering in Latin America, bringing together around 15 thousand students per edition. It is held in conjunction with the Brazilian Union of Secondary Students (UBES) and the National Association of Postgraduate Students (ANPG).
The Biennial's program includes debates, seminars, workshops, exhibitions of works, concerts, visits to local communities and several other cultural activities. The first UNE Biennial was held in 1999, in Salvador (BA). In 2013, the 8th edition was held in Olinda and Recife (PE).
The event has also been held in Fortaleza (CE), Belo Horizonte (MG) and Rio de Janeiro, among other cities, with the presence of illustrious figures, such as Leci Brandão, Alceu Valença, Nação Zumbi, Tom Zé, J. Borges, Aleida Guevara, Gilberto Gil, Ariano Suassuna, Racionais MC’s, Criolo, Emicida and Pitty, among other personalities of Brazilian and Latin American culture.
