The exhibition “The Feminine in the Work of Victor Brecheret” can be seen until Sunday (21) at the Oscar Niemeyer Museum. The exhibition is a partnership between MON and the Victor Brecheret Institute (IVB), on display in Room 1.

With works that relate to the eternal feminine, the exhibition brings together small, medium and large sculptures that alternate in different materials and techniques, such as bronze and marble, as well as a collection of drawings, in pen and ink, an autonomous expression of artistic creation. Curated by Daisy Peccinini. Opened on September 22, 2023, the exhibition presents more than 100 works by this important name on the national and international visual arts scene.

The exhibition also includes a timeline that reflects the main achievements of modernist Victor Brecheret, an essential name on the national and international scene. His works are characterized by drawing with few, clean and light lines. Feminine images take shape from a few strokes.

In this selection of works, the public will find the last one created by the artist, in 1955: the bronze sculpture “Portrait of Marisa”, a unique opportunity for contemplation. Also part of the set is the portrait of “Juranda Brecheret”, the sculptor’s wife, at the time of their marriage.
MON – The Oscar Niemeyer Museum (MON) is a state heritage site linked to the State Secretariat for Culture. The institution houses important references of national and international artistic production in the areas of visual arts, architecture and design, as well as great Asian and African collections. In total, the collection has approximately 14 thousand works of art, housed in a space of more than 35 thousand square meters of built area, which makes MON the largest art museum in Latin America.
