The event aims to contribute to the research, dissemination and recognition of the Visual Arts of Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean
The Wifredo Lam Contemporary Art Center, together with the National Council of Plastic Arts and the Ministry of Culture of Cuba, will present the 15th edition of the Havana Biennial from November 15 to February 28, 2025.
This event, of singular importance on the international art scene, aims to contribute to the research, dissemination and recognition of the Visual Arts of Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean, according to a note from the organizers.
The Havana Biennial, founded in 1984 on the initiative of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, will focus on analyzing its trajectory, retaking and rethinking some of the themes that have characterized it, and creating new networks of communication and collaboration, argues PL.
Under the slogan "Shared Horizons", its fundamental premise is to establish networks of connection and feedback with creators and the community, through collaboration, mediation and transdisciplinarity.
The main motivations for the event are the 40th anniversary of the Havana Biennial, the 505th anniversary of the founding of the city, and the birth of the remembered Cuban artist Wifredo Lam (December 8, 1902 - September 11, 1982).
