The contemporary artist Joaquín Restrepo celebrates two decades of career with the opening of his exhibition Summa Omnium, at the Rafael Uribe Uribe Palace of Culture in Medellín. The show, curated by the Mexican Alberto Ríos de la Rosa and supported by the Molina Gallery, marks the artist's return to his hometown.

"Returning to Medellín and presenting 'Summa Omnium' is like returning home and opening a new chapter in my life, shares Joaquín Restrepo. Medellín gave me the foundations to build my career, and returning here is a way to understand myself better. Sharing two decades of exploration and growth in this place means a lot to me," says the artist in a statement.
Summa Omnium, which translates as "the sum of all," is a profound reflection on the human condition and identity in the 21st century. The exhibition will take place in two phases. In the first, from October 23 to April 2024, a set of sculptural installations will occupy four different levels of the Palace of Culture, establishing a dialogue between the work and the architecture of the building.

More than 40 sculptures and two large-format paintings will be integrated into the spaces. The pieces, made of iron and resin, explore the relationship between body, space and subjectivity, fusing tradition and innovation. Admission is free for the public.
The second phase, in the second half of November, includes the unveiling of three monumental sculptures. These pieces will intervene in public space and establish a symbolic conversation with the space they will occupy. The intervention is especially significant for Restrepo, who sees Medellín as the origin of his career.

"Joaquín's work is a meticulous study of the human form that fuses tradition and innovation," says curator Alberto Ríos de la Rosa. "'Summa Omnium' encapsulates his career and raises questions about identity and technology in the 21st century. The spatial arrangement of the exhibition in Medellín reflects a careful consideration of the dialogue between the work and its surroundings, a fundamental aspect of the artist's practice."
