Oaxaca artists triumphed in the regional theater competition of the Antorchista Movement, so they will attend the XXIII National Theater Encounter with the production “Under the Gaza Sky” by playwright Luis Mantilla.
The deputy director of the “Lázaro Cárdenas” high school in Oaxaca, Axel Romero, said that in order for the students to be able to participate in the competition, they had to organize collections together with the activists in the area.
They also developed economic activities, because they did not receive any type of support from the municipal or state government.
With their production, they seek to make people understand the reality of Israel's invasion of Palestine.
“The real situation of the massacre against Palestine by Israel is not spread in the main media of the world. It is not a war. It is a genocide by Israel. What we want to tell the people who want to see our play is that behind Israel is the United States, which finances the invasion, gives them weapons, gives them all the economic conditions and with this they are expelling the Palestinians from what has always been their country,” said the director of the staging.
“With this staging, we stand in solidarity with the Palestinians and demand, like many in the world, a ceasefire,” he said.
The artists were grateful to the jury and also to the people who supported them.
He thanked the Antorchista Movement for being the only organization that bets on art, quality art, and invited everyone to go see theater from November 22 to 24 in San Luis Potosí, at the Teatro de La Paz, for free.
