The event will bring together, for the first time, 23 art galleries and projects from different cities in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, and Peru. It will take place on April 3, 4, 5, and 6 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Capitalinas District.
"Capital Feria" is the first private-sector-driven art fair to be held in the city of Córdoba. The project was conceived by Capitalinas and Wayout Producciones and directed by Luz Novillo Corvalán and Mercedes López Moreyra. Through the project, they aim to generate alliances and connections with the business world, architecture, and design, in order to develop and boost the art market.
This innovative proposal has the collaboration and support of the Córdoba Culture Agency of the Government of the Province of Córdoba. “Based on a boutique concept, the participation of around twenty renowned galleries is planned to allow for a more personalized and specific approach, offering additional experiences throughout the fair. Thus, you will be able to find works by Latin American artists from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, and Peru,” adds Luz Novillo Corvalán, curator of Capital Feria.
The presence of galleries from different cities in Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, and Peru provides a unique opportunity to learn about and exchange ideas, as well as to purchase a work of art from industry professionals. The fair will offer a variety of formats, prices, and sizes to encourage the public to interact with, appreciate, and understand what it means to have a work of art in their daily lives and the enormous added value this represents.
“Without a doubt, the distinctive concept of this art event is its Latin American roots, its focus on the private sector, and the venue where it will be held, with a disruptive layout inspired by the fair's theme of wind and wind energy,” adds Mercedes López Moreyra, curator of Capital Feria.
In this first edition, the diversity of content from different parts of Latin America seeks to broaden the dialogue and strengthen ties between the region's diverse cultural scenes. Their participation not only highlights the richness and diversity of contemporary productions from each country, but also opens a space for exchange with the curatorial perspectives and practices of Argentine galleries.
The participation of Dagoberto Rodríguez, a renowned Latin American artist of Cuban origin and resident in Madrid, Spain, in Capital Feria is noteworthy. His work will be presented at the VF Art Projects booth. His pieces are part of prestigious collections such as those at MoMA, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, and the Museo Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, among others. His work combines architecture, design, and sculpture, and is characterized by the use of humor and irony to address fundamental issues in art, politics, and society.
At the booth of the Chilean gallery OMA, for the first time in Argentina, the work of German painter Ruben Eismann will be displayed in dialogue with pieces by Chilean artists such as sculptures by Margarita Talep and paintings by Antonia Teillery, Bastian Pino, and Gabriel Holzapfel.
The NAC gallery in Santiago de Chile will present works by renowned local artists such as Pablo Zuleta, Maite Zubizarreta, and Javier Lewin.
Also on display are works by Brazilian artists such as Allan Gandhi and Julia Bianchi from the Gruta gallery in São Paulo. The brand-new Geral gallery will feature works by Toni Graton, Pedro Gutierres, and Laura Teixeira, among others. The Caderno Listrado publishing project will present a variety of artists and projects from Curitiba. Likewise, Argentine galleries showcase the diversity of local art, with proposals that engage with the national scene. Their participation strengthens the country's cultural identity and expands the reach of its artists in new markets.
In addition to touring the fair in Distrito Capitalinas, visitors can participate in the Auditorium Sector, coordinated and curated by Tomás Ezequiel Bondone.
This program of talks will offer content and diverse perspectives on current topics through exchanges with various prominent figures in the scene.
In this space, and with the support of the College of Architects of the Province of Córdoba, an interesting program entitled "Conversations by the River" will take place on Friday, April 4th, and Saturday, April 5th.
These meetings will address topics related to collecting, buyers and the art market, new gallery models, museum management in the 21st century, and more. Guests include: Emanuel Diaz Ruiz, director of the Franklin Rawson Museum in San Juan; Teresa Ricardi, director of the Sívori Museum; prominent architect Martin Benavidez; curator and collector Tristan Rault; curator Cristina Rossi; Gerardo Chavez Maza; Gi Casetai of Red Quincho; Sandra Abichain of the Montaña Azul Residence, among others.
The event promises to be a true cultural experience: Distrito Capitalinas will become the stage for artworks, talks, live music, and outdoor dining. This event is aimed at art and design enthusiasts, art, interior design, and architecture professionals and students, and the general public.
