Praxis will be the only Argentine gallery that will participate in the Abu Dhabi Art Fair

The 15th edition of Abu Dhabi Art Fair, which will take place between November 22 and 26, will have a special section on Latin America and the Praxis gallery will be the only Argentine gallery that will participate in the event in that country of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Participating exhibitors have been selected by an internal committee of the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism and international galleries of modern and contemporary art present a wide range of works for sale by different artists.
This year Abu Dhabi Art 2023 includes galleries from Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico for the first time, in a special section on Latin America.
Curator Maneli Keykavoussi brings together this new specialized section on Latin America, with galleries such as Praxis, Dan Galería, Pablo Goebel Fine Arts, Galeria Karla Osorio, Galería La Cometa and Casa Zirio.
The Praxis gallery will present the textile and Latin artist, born in Chile, Josefina Concha E, since as part of its DNA the gallery has the mission of taking Latin American art to new horizons, and this will be her debut to the Middle Eastern public , it was reported in a statement.
The guest artist is a master of textile art who rescues centuries of Latin American heritage through a communion with crafts and nature. Using elements such as skin, hair, plants and animals as initial inspiration, he has found in the thousands of layers of woven thread the possibility of painting and drawing without depending on those media, and echoing the tradition that has been transmitted through generations of women.
Her pieces are ethereal fabrics, complex but harmonious, often reflections of the feminine being, spiral shapes that are born naturally from the sewing machine, which contain in themselves the power to continue growing permanently: they have a beginning, but not a final. The almost hypnotizing process of meticulously covering the fabric with thread is for the artist a way of being fully present, body and mind in tune.
Josefina Concha E. had her first debut at Zona Maco 2023, then she opened with her first show at Praxis New York in April of this year and with her landing in Abu Dhabi she will continue with an individual exhibition in May 2024, at the Buenos Aires headquarters of the Arenales street in Buenos Aires.
