Palestine arrives at the Latin American Film Festival

For the second time, the event echoed the denunciations against the attacks of "Israel" on the Levantine people.
The 45th edition of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema was inaugurated in Cuba with a message of condemnation of the genocide perpetrated by "Israel" in Palestine and in defense of the right of its people to live in peace.

During her opening speech at the Charles Chaplin Hall in Havana, the director of the event, Tania Delgado, urged people to rise up against the complicit silence of some, so the celebration will dedicate a day to raising their voices.
In addition, the organizers recognized the historic cartoonist Juan Padrón, and highlighted the restoration in 2024 of two short films of one of his most famous characters: Elpidio Valdés.

The gala was attended by Carole Rosemberg, founder of the Havana Film Festival and recipient of the Coral of Honor.

For his part, the president of the Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry, Alexis Triana, concluded that this edition of the event will once again take to the streets, and will make the city the epicenter of the best of Latin American audiovisuals.

The Argentine film Los domingos mueren más personas, by director Iar Said, was screened at the closing, with themes such as aging and loneliness.

Argentina, Brazil and Mexico are the most represented countries in the categories of animated features and shorts, according to the official selection.

The festival will offer the Cuban public, as a world premiere, the first two chapters of the series Cien Años de Soledad, an adaptation of the homonymous work by Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez.
