“La mirada encendida” exhibition: a crossroads of collections
La mirada encendida is an exhibition resulting from the collaboration between the OSDE Foundation and the Balanz Collection, which seeks to bring to the public a valuable artistic collection that reflects the diversity and richness of Latin American art. The curator of the exhibition, Carolina Cuervo, highlighted the importance of this opening as the closing of a cycle of exhibitions scheduled for the year. “This alliance with the Balanz Collection is a very important moment, both institutionally and for our public. It is an opportunity for the works of our collection to come to light and be shown in a space where everyone can enjoy it,” said Cuervo, emphasizing the free and open access approach that the OSDE Foundation grants with its activities.
The exhibition brought together productions by 31 artists from diverse backgrounds and generations, who explore the complex plot of time through techniques such as photography, heliography and video. Participating artists include: Arturo Aguiar, Esteban Alvarez, Maria Jose Arjona, Hugo Aveta, Belkis Ayon, Nicolas Bacal, Andres Bedoya, Gala Berger, Adriana Bustos, Nicola Costantino, Santiago De Paoli, Ile Dell’Unti, Matias Duville, Clara Esborraz, Regina Jose Galindo, Tamara Goldenberg, Carmela Gross, Daniel Guzman, Fabiana Imola, Guillermo Kuitca, Rosalba Mirabella, Mariano Molina, Oscar Munoz, Paulo Nimer Pjota, Fernando Ortega, Liliana Parra, Andres Piña, Gerardo Repetto, Mauro Restiffe, Catalina Swinburn, and Gabriel Valansi.

“Each work sparks a question, incites hypnotic contemplation, and appeals to memory and imagination,” Cuervo added, highlighting the reflective nature of the pieces. “The symbolism of fire in the exhibition seeks to awaken an attentive gaze in the spectator, where each work generates a spark that spreads from one to the other,” she said.

For her part, and as a central axis of the inauguration, Juliana Fontalva, Curator of the Balanz Collection, shared her enthusiasm for the exhibition, emphasizing that “it is not common for the collection to leave our offices en masse if we have a very open loan policy, but this is a milestone to celebrate.” In addition, she highlighted the relevance of this event to enrich the art scene: “We are very happy with this collaboration. It is a way to open our collection to a wider public and to contribute to the development of contemporary art, not only Argentine, but Latin American.”

Both institutions emphasize their commitment to the development of the art scene. Carolina Cuervo mentioned that the programming of the exhibitions at the Espacio del Arte of the OSDE Foundation seeks to contribute to the visibility of contemporary Argentine art.

“The event reflects the interest of the people behind each collection. We are still a human group, despite being private institutions, there are people who have interests, passions, concerns, fears and all of that is reflected in this meeting of the two collections, so I think it is a very well-done exhibition that will interest all types of public,” explained Fontalva.

The exhibition “La mirada encendida” will be open to the public from Monday to Saturday until December 7, with scheduled activities that will include workshops and guided tours. The OSDE Foundation and the Balanz Collection invite everyone to enjoy this exhibition, which promises to be a meeting of art, reflection and creativity.
