Havana, Nov 13 (RHC) The 41st edition of the Winter Festival, Cine Club Cubanacán, began in the city of Santa Clara with the attendance of experts and fans of film creation.
The event's main objective is to promote and reward the results achieved by amateur film buffs from all over the country, through different modalities, in addition to developing photo sessions and meetings between creators.
Rolando Rodríguez, president of the Cubanacán film club and organizer, told the press today that a total of 56 works will compete on a competitive basis, including documentaries, fiction, art videos, commercials and animated films.
The contest, which will run until November 16, will also feature special exhibitions of materials, as well as the presentation of papers and workshops related to audiovisual production.
The film festival will be attended by guests Eslinda Núñez, National Film Award winner, and Consuelo Ramírez, audiovisual director.
On behalf of the National Federation of Film Clubs, Yoni Yánez thanked Santa Clara for its annual welcome to film buffs from the country, and the Cubanacán film club for its permanence and support for the development of Cuban cinema.
Yoan Gálvez, director of the Provincial Film Center in Villa Clara, announced that during the days of the festival a space equipped with vaults and other equipment will be provided with a view to preserving the works of the seventh art. (Prensa Latina)
