“Open Borders” brings 3 exhibitions at the Correios Cultural Center in RJ

Work "Albarrada", by Fábio Carvalho

The Correios Cultural Center in Rio de Janeiro presents “Fronteiras Abertas”, which brings together 3 artists with great connection in style and language between their works. The connecting link is a figurative work based on symbolic elements involved in a lyrical and stylized abstraction. A current of contemporary art that assimilates aspects of Pop Art and Surrealism, at the same time flirting with Urban Art.

There are 3 artists in 3 simultaneous exhibitions that literally open their borders in a symbiosis that expands their connection, thus creating a single body, talking about the environment and childhood toys, which promote a reflection on human existence, based on the confrontation between perennial and ephemeral.
In a playful way, such an approach – expanded in forms, palettes, invoices, traces, supports and diverse means – is loaded with symbolic and allegorical values, through which we are led to questions around the urgency of clarity and equity to improve the condition human.

“The Island” by Osvaldo Carvalho

Work “Avesso” by Luiz Badia

“Pearls to Pigs” by Fábio Carvalho

Although each artist makes use of different poetic resources, they operate subjective rhetoric in a cohesive manner. In all of them, pre-existing forms and images are brought together in myriads of possible writings. Related to the concept of image culture and its power to manipulate the social mass, Fronteiras Abertas is an exhibition that flirts with dream and reality through montages, in which all the allegorical procedures involved in the modus operandi of life today are applied.
