FAV prepares collective tribute to Botero

The Fernando Botero 2024 Chair of Latin American Art includes the exhibition “Requiem for Botero”, workshops, a dialogue table and a film series.


The Faculty of Visual Arts (FAV) of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León invites the university community and the general public to attend the Fernando Botero 2024 Latin American Art Chair, which will take place from February 19 to 22.



Since 2008, the UANL and Fernando Botero have maintained a constant relationship, since in that year the Maximum House of Studies of the State awarded him the Honoris Causa doctorate for his contribution to art and from that moment on, a series of collaborations with the Colombian artist have emerged.
Requiem for Botero

On February 22, the collective exhibition “Requiem for Botero” will open at 6:00 p.m. in the Patio Ala Sur of the Colegio Civil Centro Cultural Universitario, made up of a selection of 34 pieces made by students from the three bachelor's and master's degrees. the FAV.
In the same way, the exhibition includes a series of workshops: “Modeling with air-drying paste”, taught by Débora Díaz López, and “Work challenges of a graphic designer about to graduate”, by Leonardo Arenas Beltrán.

The dialogue table “The legacy of Maestro Botero in Nuevo León” will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21 in the auditorium of Building E of the Faculty of Visual Arts and includes the participation of Rosy Loyola Castillo, Romeo Flores Caballero and Alejandro Palacios Ochoa, with Verónica Delgado Cantú, director of the faculty, as moderator.

Among the activities contemplated for the 2024 edition of the chair is a film series titled “Fernando Botero at Cinema Fósforo”, which will have two screenings:
