The renowned Argentine gallery owner, Tomás Redrado, celebrates the opening of a new gallery in José Ignacio, Uruguay, consolidating his artistic project that began in Miami and now seeks to position itself as a reference in the region. With a clear orientation towards Latin American art and a commitment to sustainability, Redrado plans for this headquarters to become the heart of his artistic operations.
A space for art in the Uruguayan paradise
The new gallery, located in Arenas de José Ignacio, has a space of 80 square meters and is emerging as the epicenter of an ambitious artistic program. According to Redrado, this venue will not only host exhibitions, but also artistic residencies that will allow creators from around the world to develop their projects in a privileged environment.
"We are opening with an exhibition by Jessica Trostman, who did a residency in November. In addition, we are presenting the work of Paloma Tepa, a Cordoban artist based in Miami, known for her focus on biophilic architecture," said the gallery owner in a recent interview with the Observador.
Residencies and exhibitions: a comprehensive plan for 2025
The gallery's program includes four annual exhibitions and at least eight month-long artistic residencies. These residencies are designed to provide artists with an unrestricted creative space, where they can focus on the production of their works using sustainable materials and in harmony with the environment.
"We want everything we do here to be aligned with the spirit of José Ignacio, from using local resources to reducing the carbon footprint in our productions," Redrado explained, emphasizing the commitment to the community and the environment.
From Miami to José Ignacio: the path of the gallery owner
Redrado began his career in art almost by accident during the pandemic, after moving to Miami. There, he established his first gallery focused on Argentine artists and later expanded his vision to the entire Latin American region
"In Miami, I started working with big names like Marta Minujín and Diego Bianchi. Now, at José Ignacio, I want to create a space that not only exhibits art, but also connects the local community with the international art scene," he told the media.
A gallery that breathes sustainability and community
Redrado's proposal not only seeks to highlight Latin American talent, but also to foster a deep bond with the environment. "This project is designed to be sustainable, using local materials and fostering a dialogue between art, nature and the community of José Ignacio," added the gallery owner. With this new opening, Tomás Redrado reinforces his mission to build cultural bridges and position Latin American art in a privileged place within the international panorama. The inauguration marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for art in Uruguay and for its growing legacy in the region.
