New curator of MALBA

Brazilian Rodrigo Moura will be the new curator of MALBA, in Buenos Aires

The information came from sources connected to the museum, who suggest that the official announcement will be made next week
After five years as chief curator at El Museo del Barrio, in New York, Rodrigo Moura will be the new curator of the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA).

In Brazil, the work of the curator from Minas Gerais is remembered and respected especially for his work at Inhotim, in Brumadinho, from 2004 to 2016, from where he left to be assistant curator at MASP, in São Paulo, until 2018. At El Museo del Barrio, he has expanded the scope of the collection to better reflect the Latin and Caribbean diasporas present in the country. Now at MALBA, also dedicated to modern and contemporary Latin art, it is expected that Moura will be able to continue this research with greater international projection.

In addition to the Argentine institution having as one of its main attractions “Abaporu” by Tarsila do Amaral and “O Impossível” by Maria Martins, throughout this year, relations with Brazil have become even closer until the culmination of this announcement: the museum's annual program opened with a solo show by Rosana Paulino, and will close with the current exhibition by Tunga.
