The painter from Guadalajara, Juan Pedro Ponce, presents his most recent exhibition, "Ser Portales", an artistic introspection on the inner worlds of each being.

The exhibition will be inaugurated on January 24 at 6:00 p.m. at the Javier Arévalo Gallery, located in the heart of Zapopan, and will be open to the public until February 27.
Through 27 works that include oils on canvas, engravings and sculptures, Ponce invites us to explore essential concepts such as thought, transformation and coexistence.

"The exhibition is called "Being Portals" and it is about entering the portals that each person is, each person, each flower, each animal, each being; even each stone has a universe within.

It is an invitation to be able to enter these new worlds that each being has, that is what the exhibition is about."

The collection includes pieces of various formats: from 10-centimeter sculptures to two-meter paintings. Among the techniques used are linoleum engraving, etching and aquatint.
Faithful to his surrealist style, the painter assures that his work arises from his imagination and daily experiences.

"My work is surreal and, in the end, it has no reference, I make it all up in my head.

This topic does have a lot to do with how I feel at the moment of inspiration, for example if I'm reading a book and I feel very inspired about it, then I get the information from there. The issue of sizes also depends on what I'm commissioned to do, because most of the work is ordered, it's commissioned, so

it's also what the client is looking for, but I already have several formats that I generally use."

After self-taught training and formal studies at the University of Guadalajara and the Academy of Art in Madrid, Ponce has collaborated with eight galleries, participated in 20 collective exhibitions and presented two solo exhibitions, consolidating himself as a leading figure in national art.
