Thematic tours of the National Museums of CABA

On weekends in March, the National Museums of CABA invite you to participate in thematic tours linked to their collection and its surroundings. All visits are free of charge.

Through thematic guided tours, participatory tours and walks, the National Museums invite you to learn about the identity and themes of each cultural space, many of them emblematic and witnesses of Argentine history. In each museum you can find collections of historical objects, Argentine, Latin American and world art, sculptures, furniture from all times, costumes and customs from our past, contemporary art, books, documents and libraries of personalities from our past.
Proposals for the weekend

The Sarmiento Museum (Cuba 2079) proposes a morning walk through the historic center of the Belgrano neighborhood. The appointment is this Saturday the 23rd at 10:30 a.m. in the Museum gardens to visit the following points: Sarmiento Museum; Monument to General Belgrano; Mast; Sculpture of the three graces; Larreta Museum; Church of the Immaculate Conception; Casto Munita School, and the Watson Hotel. At each stop, teacher Silvia Vardé will tell stories and anecdotes about the transformations of the neighborhood and its identity.

The tour lasts approximately 40 minutes and is carried out with the Belgrano Historical Studies Board. It is suspended due to rain.

The Yrurtia Museum (O'Higgins 2390) is located in what was the home of the sculptor Rogelio Yrurtia and the painter Lía Correa Morales, a couple of artists of great prominence at the beginning of the 20th century in Argentina. It is characterized by having a collection of large-scale sculptures.

On Saturdays and Sundays, 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the Museum opens its doors and offers a participatory tour of the house and its gardens. O’Higgins 2390, CABA. Accessible entrance through Blanco Encalada 2040.



Yrurtia Museum

The Education team of the Museum of Engraving (Riobamba 985) organizes participatory tours for all audiences through the #MNGCollection exhibition, which proposes three curatorial views on the museum's heritage, in its historical and contemporary dimension. The three views are: Early times. The invention of the Museum of Engraving, curated by Silvia Dolinko (floor 2); Sensitive joints of doing. Inward and outward at the same time (floor 2), curated by Guillermina Mongan and Raras como activadas. Graphic publications in the museum (Microespacio PB), curated by Bruno Basile, Cristina Blanco and Alicia Valente.

National Museum of Engraving

The Palacio Errázuriz Alvear Palace was the residence of the family formed by Josefina de Alvear and Matías Errázuriz Ortúzar and since 1936 it has been a national museum dedicated to design and decorative arts. It preserves valuable collections of sculptures, paintings, tapestries, weapons, books, ceramics, furniture and miniatures, mainly European and Oriental, from the 16th to the 20th centuries. From Wednesday to Saturday, at 4 p.m., the Museum guides accompany visitors to tour the different rooms of the Palace to learn about its history and the heritage of what is today the National Museum of Decorative Art.

National Museum of Decorative Art

On Saturdays in March, Museo Roca invites you to a participatory visit + documentary screening. The exhibition "The Faces of Modern Argentina" revolves around the stage of Argentine history that spans the late 19th century and early 20th century, a time marked by great transformations that produced accelerated growth and profound imbalances. The exhibition proposes a tour of various thematic cores such as the economy, workers, education, debates and borders. Then, The Plot of the Border is presented, a documentary about the long-term history of the Pampa-Patagonian border.

The faces of modern Argentina. Rock Museum

The National Historical Museum (Defensa 1600) offers a special tour of the museum's warehouses. In addition to discovering objects from the collection that are not exhibited in the room, visitors will be able to see behind the scenes of the heritage guarding tasks.
