Latin America establishes itself in ARCOmadrid 2024, which moves to March
The celebration of the 43rd edition of ARCOmadrid is approaching, which will take place from March 6 to 10 to encourage the presence of international collectors, and it is planned that in the coming years it will maintain its dates in March instead of February. 205 galleries from 36 countries will participate, 171 within the framework of the General Program and the rest in its curated sections: The shore, the tide, the current: an oceanic Caribbean, with 19 galleries; Opening. New galleries, with 15 rooms; and Never the Same. Latin American art, with 12 galleries.
National representation this year will be 35% of the offer; There will be 73 Spanish centers in IFEMA. For its part, the international segment will grow to 65% -132 galleries-, and of this, close to 30% will be taken up by the Latin American presence, with 38 galleries from 13 countries and with special representation from Argentina, Brazil and Mexico.
As for names, among the international venues participating in the General Program, Max Hetzler, Vera Munro, Air de Paris, Fortes D’aloia & Gabriel, Lévy Gorvy Dayan and Hollybush Gardens will attend ARCO for the first time. Also returning will be Thaddaeus Ropac, Mai 36, Jocelyn Wolff, Chantal Crousel, Krinzinger, Nächst St. Stephan Rosemarie Schwarzwälder, Giorgio Persano, Lelong, Meyer Riegger, Perrotin, Poggi, Neugerriemschneider, Thomas Schulte, Capitain Petzel, Société and Chertlüdde, Mendes Wood Dm, Nicolai Wallner or Kalfayan Galleries.
The research theme of the fair this 2024, the aforementioned The shore, the tide, the current: an oceanic Caribbean, curated by Carla Acevedo-Yates and Sara Hermann Morera, will bring together spaces such as David Castillo, Hutchinson Modern & Contemporary, Monique Meloche , Patron, Praise Shadows Art Gallery, Tern Gallery, Espacio Mínimo or Helga de Alvear; and the new galleries covered in Opening, selected by Cristina Anglada and Yina Jiménez Suriel, will be Artbeat, Blue Velvet, Eins Gallery, Espacio Continuo, Fermay, Hatch, Remota, Sissi Club and The Space Art Gallery, participating for the first time.
For its part, the Never the Same section. Latin American art will reinforce the study of Latin American creation and its relationship with all agents at the Fair. Curated by José Esparza Chong Cuy and Manuela Moscoso, it will be made up of works by a selection of creators from Latin America and represented by a dozen galleries, such as A Gentil Carioca, Jaqueline Martins, _Vigilgonzales, Isla Flotante, Millan, N.A.S.A.L. and Ultraviolet Projects.
We must add to the tour 28 artist projects, in charge of 32 galleries, such as those of Peppi Bottrop (Ehrhardt Florez + Meyer Riegger), Laia Abril (Set Espai d'Art), Zila Leutenegger (Peter Kilchmann), Concha Jérez (Freijo ), Mónica de Miranda (Carlos Carvalho), Esther Boix (Marc Domènech), Josep Ponsatí (Prats Nogueras Blanchard+Bombon Projects), Carles Congost (House of Chappaz) or Elena Aitzkoa (Rosa Santos). On the other hand, ArtsLibris will once again be present at ARCOmadrid with more than eighty editors.
With new collectors in mind, the First Collectors by Fundación Banco Santander program will return to ARCO, a free advisory service on the purchase of works during the exhibition, which has advised more than 700 interested parties in its fourteen years of existence. It will join forces with the Young Collectors program, which will incorporate more than fifty young international collectors, and with the classic International Buyers Program and the special guests program, which will bring nearly 400 collectors and 200 professionals from approximately 40 countries to Madrid.
Once again, different private companies will award acquisition prizes and various recognitions for artistic creation, including the Lexus Award for Best Stand at ARCOmadrid 2024, the eighth Cervezas Alhambra Arte Emergente Award, the 17th Illy Sustainart Award, the 19th ARCO/BEEP award. of Electronic Art, the first Fondazione Per L'arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT Acquisition Prize, the first ENATE-ARCOmadrid 2024 Prize, the tenth Opening Prize, the Catalina d'Anglade Prize and the Emerige-CPGA Prize.
In addition, the ARCO Foundation will once again award its “A” Awards to Collecting in its 28th edition, recognizing four collections: those of Mario Cader-Frech, José Antonio Llorente and Irene Rodríguez, Vasa Perovic and the Fundação PLMJ.

Women in the Visual Arts, which will consist of two talks on the presence of women artists in the market.
