The first Latin American contemporary art fair

Colombian Manuela Rayo creates the first Latin American contemporary art fair in Paris
Colombian Manuela Rayo launches MIRA Latino Art Fair on September 18, the first fair dedicated to contemporary Latin American art in Paris at the Maison de l’Amérique Latine. Naturally, she was with Jordi Batallé on RFI's El invitado to tell us about it.
From September 18 to 22, 2024, MIRA Latino Art Fair will light up the Maison de l’Amérique Latine in Paris. This first edition of the contemporary art fair highlights the Latin American art scene, which is generally underrepresented in Europe.

Through an intimate and exclusive fair model that focuses on the quality and originality of the works on display, MIRA brings together 24 renowned galleries (14 in the main sector and 10 in the Special Project entitled In Time/In Place) from countries such as Cuba, Spain, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, France and the United Kingdom, creating an enriching dialogue between artists, collectors and cultural institutions. MIRA's mission is to celebrate and promote the diversity and richness of Latin American art, while incorporating sustainability as the essence of its project. By offering a dynamic platform where artists can present their creations to a new and diverse audience, MIRA aims to become a key cultural meeting point in Paris.

The event is not just an exhibition of works of art; it is a truly comprehensive cultural celebration, including conferences, performances, music and Latin American gastronomic specialties that reflect the authenticity and vitality of Latin America. By choosing the Maison de l'Amérique Latine, MIRA reinforces its commitment to promoting Latin American art in a European context. This emblematic place contributes to the cultural atmosphere of the fair, a vector of discovery and exchange.
