25-29/9, the ArtRio 2024 fair

Marina da Glória will host the ArtRio 2024 fair from 25-29/9

The event is one of the largest in its segment in Latin America and will bring together more than 100 exhibitors in its 14th edition. The new feature is the opening of spaces for indigenous exhibitors
Between September 25 and 29, Marina da Glória will host one of the most important art events in Latin America, ArtRio, which is in its 14th edition. With a new architectural design, the fair will bring together more than 100 exhibitors spread across larger spaces, including an outdoor area and a gallery dedicated to artists who work outside the Rio-São Paulo axis.
The event is curated by Paula Borghi, who is part of Brasil Contemporâneo, a program through which ArtRio 2024 will dedicate spaces to indigenous art. The Carmo Johnson Projects gallery will have a booth with the MAHKU Collective, from the Huni Kuin Artists Movement, as well as works by artists Kaya Agari, from the Kurâ-Bakairi ethnic group, and Kássia Borges. Christal Galeria will have exclusively indigenous artists as its curators, including Ziel Karapotó, from the Marataro Kaetés Indigenous Reserve, and Olinda Tupinambá, from the Tupinambá people.

“We want to bring artists from all regions of Brazil to the fair and show the great diversity of Brazilian artistic production. It is important that the public recognizes the wealth we have in the country, with inspiring artists who translate our history as a society and as a nation into their works,” says the president of ArtRio, Brenda Valansi, as reported by Diário do Porto.

ArtRio 2024 will feature more than three special programs: SOLO, curated by Ademar Britto and focused on presenting original projects by selected artists; Panorama, focused on galleries recognized for their presence in the modern and contemporary art market; and the Expansion program, aimed at promoting institutions that use art as a means of social inclusion.

On Wednesday, the 25th, the winners of the Foco ArtRio 2024 Award will be announced, which selected 5 artists to participate in a 60-square-meter booth at the current edition of the fair.

During the week, the city will host events parallel to ArtRio 2024, such as exhibitions, performances and guided tours in other neighborhoods of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.

Tickets cost R$80 (full price) and R$40 (half price) and can be purchased at artrio.com/tickets.
