What it's like and which artists exhibit in Tomás Redrado's new art gallery in Punta del Este
“Tomás Redrado Art”, which already has a location in Miami, landed this summer in José Ignacio with an impressive proposal of artists and an interesting residency program
Driven by the ambition to explore new horizons, Tomás Redrado's art gallery extended its program to South America and settled in Punta del Este with great success within the Art House hotel complex.
“Tomás Redrado Art”, the Miami-based gallery, was founded with the mission of generating a lasting impact on the ecosystem of Latin American contemporary art, seeking to elevate the presence of artists from the region and increase their visibility on the global stage, connecting the artistic networks of Latin America, the Caribbean and the diaspora, with a strong emphasis on the scenes of Argentina and Uruguay.
“Fostering dialogue between artists, expanding networks and inspiring production in a unique environment” is the goal of the artist residency program at José Ignacio, where the gallery made its landing this summer.
Since its arrival, the exhibitions of artists Jessica Trosman (Argentina) and Paloma Teppa (Miami) have already been showcased.
Julia Retz (Brazil) and Mariana Ferrari (Argentina) will be presenting their residency. The former will do so alongside Benjamín Felice (Argentina) and Henry Palacio (Colombia) in December, while the latter will be presenting in April.
This diverse group of artists works with themes that resonate with the objectives of this gallery’s program. In line with its fundamental concepts of fostering innovation, embracing unconventional perspectives and connecting with the public, the expansion to Uruguay represents a natural progression in the journey of “Tomás Redrado Art”.
