The "Latin America" cartoon and caricature exhibition was opened at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art with the presence of art directors, the Cuban ambassador and Latin American artists.
According to reporter Mehr, the cartoon and caricature exhibition “Latin America” opened on Thursday, with the presence of Iranian and foreign art directors and artists at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art.
In this ceremony, in addition to several caricaturist artists from Latin American countries, art directors such as Mahmoud Salari, Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Mohammad Khorasanizadeh, General Director of the Center for Visual Arts, Mohammad Hossein Niromand, Advisor to the Minister of Art and Film Affairs Ali Forozanfar, Director General of Culture of Tehran province Seyyed Amir Javed, deputy director of art department in international affairs, Seyed Masoud Shujaei Tabatabai, secretary of the exhibition were present.
Mohammad Khorasanizadeh, General Director of the Center for Visual Arts and Head of the Museum of Contemporary Art, at the beginning of the ceremony, referring to the crimes and genocide of the Zionist usurper regime in Gaza and the need for massive protests against this human tragedy, said:
Cartoons and caricature as a dynamic, active, living phenomenon is always one of the media-based arts that can react in the moment. We are proud that on the eve of the 13th of Aban and the beginning of the anti-arrogance week, the cartoon and caricature exhibition "Latin America" will open at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art with works from 15 Latin American countries.
Next, Sidamir Javid, Deputy Head of Art for International Affairs, explained as the next speaker: We have all had the experience of growing seeds as children to grow into plants. They say that each person's heart is the size of their fist; Our fathers and mothers experienced this feeling.
The heart of a fetus is small and the heart of a one-year-old child is small. We have all experienced how terrified a child is when a balloon bursts next to them. What does popping a balloon do to a child's heart? What is happening now to the children in Gaza? “3,000 children” is not just a number and imagine what happens in the hearts of these children with the sound of bombs, explosions and rockets.
He continued: Today, in the age of technology, when various media in the world and people with power and wealth have created many obstacles and high walls in the name of freedom, so that the people of the world live in an invisible fence and do not know about the realities of the world.
We are witnessing an event that, perhaps in ways that are difficult to understand, from miles away, the voices of 3,000 children from Gaza pass through every technological wall, artificial intelligence wall, media censorship wall, and into the ears of people on the streets of London, Paris and... and that's very surprising.
He stated: One of the most important reasons that this sound became popular is the presence of high-ranking artists who cross all technological boundaries with their art and thought and show the truth to people. Like the poster for this exhibition that we have to take back the curtains and get to the truth and face it.
He said: Latin American artists and various other artists are among the best caricaturists in the world, who have managed to create good works with their own heart and careful eye.
Next, Seyyed Masoud Shujaei Tabatabai, secretary of the drawings and caricatures exhibition "Latin America", presented the history of the presence of foreign cartoonists in Iran and said: the history of the wide and continuous interaction with artists from the world, including Latin America, after the first Tehran cartoon biennale in 1992. It happened and during three decades of activity, a deep cultural and artistic connection was established between Iran and these countries. This friendship and interaction with Latin American countries made it possible to hold one of the world's artistic events in Tehran. Based on this, the international affairs of the art field, as well as the visual arts center of the art field, provided the opportunity for the presence of 9 prominent Latin American cartoonists in Iran, and the participation and synergy of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Tehran organized this exhibition for famous artists from Latin American countries.
