Pinta BAphoto returns: when and where the most important photography event in Latin America will be
Pinta BAphoto celebrates its 20th edition at La Rural with a program that brings together more than 200 photographers and galleries, highlighting the diversity and evolution of contemporary photography in Latin America.
Pinta BAphoto, the most prominent photography event in Latin America, will celebrate its 20th edition from October 24 to 27, 2024 in Pavilion 8 of La Rural. This edition promises to be a tribute to photography, bringing together more than 200 photographers and visual artists from across the continent.
Irene Gelfman, global curator of the event, expressed her enthusiasm: “It will be an unmissable meeting that highlights the indelible mark of photography on Latin American art.”
The event will feature a varied program that includes curated sections, special projects, a series of talks, a masterclass, and a space for independent publishers. Among the highlighted sections is the Main Section, which will exhibit more than 55 galleries recognized for their proposals by modern and contemporary artists.
In addition, the NEXT | Fuera de Foco section, curated by Joaquín Rodríguez and Bárbara Golubicki, will give visibility to emerging artists from all over the country, while RADAR, curated by Sebastián Vidal Mackinson, will present a generation of artists who explore new possibilities of photographic language.
Special projects such as the work of Cecilia Lenardón and the Video Project will also enrich the proposal, with the territory as the guiding thread of the visual narrative. Among the artists selected for this section are Amadeo Azar and Alejandro Kuropatwa.
This year's tribute at Pinta BAphoto
A special tribute will be dedicated to the Russian-Argentine photographer Jaime Bolotinsky (1894-1969) in the Artist Tribute section, curated by Francisco Medail, celebrating 10 years of this initiative that has paid tribute to great figures such as Sara Facio and George Friedman in previous editions.
In addition, the career of Luz Castillo, Aldo Sessa and Pedro Roth will be recognized, three pillars of Argentine art who have left a deep mark on the art scene.
The series of talks, FORO, will bring together more than 25 guest speakers who will range from artistic reflections to special screenings, such as Federico Klemm's Telematic Banquet, and book presentations that will foster a space for cultural exchange.
