In its second edition, NFT Brasil 2024 arrives with the ambition of consolidating itself as one of the largest Web3 events in Latin America, positioning Brazil at the forefront of emerging technologies. This year, the program goes far beyond cryptoart, games and metaverse, covering a complete panorama of the digital future.

NFT Brasil 2024 will take place at the Bienal Pavilion in São Paulo on September 12 and 13 to explore all the major trends that are shaping the digital future in Brazil and around the world.

The epicenter of NFT Brasil focuses on the interactive experiences of the more than 300 works distributed in multiple conceptual exhibitions gathered in the exhibition "Beyond the Line and Time: Exploring Artistic Multiverses."

Far beyond crypto art and Web3

Free to attend, the exhibition was conceived as a cross-cultural journey through the evolution of digital art, in which visitors will be able to interact with installations, generative art, crypto art, virtual and augmented reality.

Bob Burnquist, skateboarder, co-founder of NFT Brasil and a fan of cryptocurrencies and NFTs (non-fungible tokens), highlights that the scope of the program was designed to "explore the practical applications of emerging technologies, offering a fascinating vision of the digital future and promoting a deeper understanding of these revolutionary trends."

Expanding even beyond the world of Web3 and crypto art, NFT Brasil 2024 will feature five distinct stages dedicated to different themes, including cryptocurrencies, artificial intelligence (AI), games, emerging technologies and digital art.

In total, more than 100 national and international experts will discuss diverse topics such as the alignment of emerging technologies with ESG (Environment, Society and Governance) practices; the unknown frontiers and ethical challenges of artificial intelligence, according to executives from leading companies in the sector, such as IBM and Google; and Brazil's regulatory approach to promoting the responsible development of cryptocurrency and AI ecosystems. Drex and the tokenization of real-world assets under debate

Drex, a Brazilian central bank digital currency (CBDC) whose pilot project has just entered its second phase, will be highlighted in the NFT Brasil 2024 program. In a statement to Cointelegraph Brasil, Lucas Santiago, founder of NFT Brasil, stated that Drex positions Brazil at the forefront of blockchain technology because it is a CBDC that is being designed to integrate with the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem – and not in opposition to it as in other countries:

"Despite being implemented on a permissioned blockchain, Drex offers new possibilities for interconnection with the existing crypto infrastructure. Drex can bring an additional layer of security and efficiency to financial processes, in addition to being a powerful tool in the fight against corruption."

In a panel entitled "Evolution of the Brazilian digital currency and the Drex platform – Opportunities and challenges of the tokenized economy", Fábio Araújo, director of the Central Bank and coordinator of the CBDC project, André Portilho, head of digital assets at BTG Pactual, and George Marcel Smetana, innovation specialist at Banco Bradesco, will discuss the potential of Drex as a tool for financial inclusion and democratization of access to digital assets and tokenized real-world assets (RWA).

In the business area, pitching sessions and a hackathon dedicated exclusively to use cases involving NFTs will offer startups and developers opportunities to present their products and solutions to users and potential investors.

Contemplating the integration of school-age children into the Web3 universe, the organization of NFT Brasil 2024 has entered into a partnership with the Department of Education of the State of São Paulo to welcome more than 8 thousand students from the public school system.

"By offering these young people a direct immersion in the innovations of the metaverse and cryptoart, we are contributing to the formation of a new generation of digital leaders", said Edvan Filho, one of the co-founders of NFT Brasil, projecting a future increasingly mediated by emerging technologies.

Tickets that provide access to the full NFT Brasil 2024 program are on sale for R$270 – a pass for both days of the event – and for R$160 for individual days.

The diversification of the NFT Brasil 2024 theme comes in a year in which the non-fungible token market has been showing a steady decline.

As recently reported by Cointelegraph Brasil, NFT trading registered a volume of US$374 million in August. In addition to setting the lowest monthly volume of 2024, it was the first time that digital collectibles moved less than US$400 million per month this year.
