Biennial of the Amazons

Biennial of the Amazons

Curated by Sandra Benites, Flavya Mutran, Kenya Eleison and Vânia Leal, Bubuia: Waters as a Source of Imaginations and Desires is the theme of the Biennale that contemplates the cultural and artistic plurality of one of the richest biomes in biodiversity in the world.

The unprecedented moment that unites nine countries and several Brazilian states focuses on the identity and culture expressed through the contemporary art of the Amazonian peoples. Located in an old commercial building in the center of the capital of Pará, the exhibition seeks to break with the “usual” ways of making art, considering methods, aesthetics, materials, spaces and narratives from the Amazon region. Contemporary expressions from Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Suriname, Guyana, French Guiana and Brazil make up the exhibition, which has free entry.
