'Art week Mexico' is about to start and the different art fairs and satellite activities will have a lot of participation from Latin America, here is a guide to 8 galleries that will show the work of their artists

Like every February, Mexico City is the artistic epicenter of Latin America for an entire week known as Art week, in which different fairs such as Zona MACO, Salón ACME and Material bring together different proposals from galleries from around the world. .
  Likewise, other creative disciplines such as design are also involved in the same or other platforms that take place in the Mexican capital, taking advantage of the significant increase in tourism specialized in these topics that comes to enjoy the many activities offered during these days.

As if that were not enough, Mexican gallery owners also join the furor caused by Art Week and, although many participate in the fairs, for their part they also change the work in their venues and inaugurate exhibitions to show the artists they represent.

Over the years, Latin American participation has increased and currently some of the most important galleries from Central and South American countries meet under the awnings of the most important art fairs in Mexico. Here we present some that will have one or several stands and whose proposals are very worth knowing.

Vision Institute. Bogota Colombia.

This important Colombian gallery is directed by women whose mission is the investigation and dissemination of artistic discourses that are not so easily found in the “official” history of art. With 'Visionarios', one of their projects, this group of experts has managed to recover the heritage of the Latin American art scene of the 20th century and said program remains alive seeking to learn even more about the work in this region little explored in the artistic field. Likewise, they are representatives of different talents whom they consider relevant for their expression generated from current affairs.



Apartment. Havana Cuba.

This project founded in 2015 has become the most relevant Cuban contemporary art gallery on an international scale and has participated in important fairs such as Untitled in Miami and ARCO, in Madrid. The apartment will have a stand in Zona MACO where it will show pieces by the artists it represents, including the Cubans Ariel Cabrera and Roberto Diago, the Chilean Pablo Linsambarth and the Spanish collective Los Bravú by Dea Gómez and Diego Omil.



Leme Gallery. Sao Paulo, Brazil.

This year, the Leme gallery celebrates two decades of promoting contemporary Latin American art and has a wide catalog of talented creatives such as Brazilians Evandro Carlos Jardim and Rodrigo Bivar. He also represents artists from other countries such as José Carlos Martinat, originally from Lima, Peru, and the young Salvadoran Felipe Rezende. Regarding its geographical space, it should be noted that the gallery is located in a concrete building designed and built by architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha, recognized with the Pritzker Prize.



W–Gallery. Buenos Aires, Argentina.

This important project has three locations, one different from the other, which seeks to generate dialogue between the work, the artist and the public. W–Archivo is located in Buenos Aires, where the Center for Art and Communication was previously located, with this branch they maintain a program focused on editorial and research. W–Galería, also in the Argentine capital, has a lively program that changes every six months and, finally, W–naturae was established in Uruguay, which offers an exhibition program that seeks to promote ecological and artistic initiatives.

This gallery specializes in Peruvian conceptual art and opened its doors with the intention of supporting and making the art scene in the Latin American country more robust. With the strong purpose of preserving, promoting and extolling consolidated talent and with the intention of generating support for new proposals from emerging artists, this space has earned its space in different fairs around the world, which means an important exhibition of its represented artists. . For this art week in Mexico, the gallery will exhibit at Zona MACO and at Material Art Fair.

The kite. Bogota Colombia.

With other spaces in Medellín, Madrid and Miami, this project has been in existence for 35 years and has worked with the aim of bringing the best of modern and contemporary art from Latin America to all audiences. With its program, La Cometa tries to include different Latin American talents that allow it to show the context of artistic production today and among its representatives are Fernando Pinto and Olga de Amaral, from Colombia, Glenda León from Cuba and Daniel Nyström from Sweden, among others.




Embassy. San Juan Puerto Rico.

Born a little over 8 years ago, this gallery was founded mainly to represent Puerto Rican artists in the world. Its name is given since it has a diplomatic mission as its background. It currently has nine artists in its catalog, mostly from the Caribbean island, such as Gabriella Torres-Ferrer, Nora Maite Nieves and Radamés “Juni” Figueroa.


Vigil Gonzales, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Born as a contemporary art gallery, it promotes its artists within Latin America and around the world, seeking a cultural exchange through the exploration of disciplines and contexts. For the most part, the creatives in this gallery's catalog are worthy examples of artistic work in Latin America.
