Malba celebrates its 23rd anniversary and organizes an extensive calendar of activities open to the public
The museum will offer activities and exhibitions for the whole family, including a new exhibition. In addition, it will inaugurate its new headquarters in Escobar

For 23 years, the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (Malba) has been a dynamic and participatory cultural space, standing out for its temporary and permanent exhibitions of contemporary Argentine and Latin American art. In addition, it has a film program and a film library that is enriched monthly, as well as a Literature section that organizes meetings with writers, courses and seminars. In terms of Education and Cultural Action, Malba offers programs for children, guided tours and collaborative activities with civil society organizations, thus ensuring access to art for broad sectors of the community.
The architecture of the building was conceived to integrate the museum into the city and provide an ideal environment to enjoy the works of art, complying with international standards of exhibition and conservation. The design includes an entrance hall, permanent and temporary exhibition halls, sculpture terraces, an auditorium, a restaurant, a shop and offices, among other facilities.

Next week, the museum is preparing to celebrate this new anniversary with a series of events that begins on Saturday, September 21 with various family activities, taking advantage of the exhibition “Gyula Kosice. Intergaláctico” and the works of the Malba Collection. During the day, creative workshops and a music library for children will be held, offering stories, books and comics. In addition, you can enjoy “Sabor a durazno”, a storytelling and music show aimed at children from 0 to 5 years old. There will also be guided tours of the exhibitions and a visit to “Tercer ojo”, an exhibition focused on surrealism and modern Mexico. The day will close with a special edition of “Música a cielo Abierto”, a cycle that presents indie and electronic talents, at 6:30 p.m.
On Sunday, September 22, from 12:00 to 19:00, Malba Puertos, the museum's new headquarters located in Puertos, Escobar, will open to the public. This inauguration seeks to bring the contemporary art scene closer to new communities through a program of exhibitions and cultural activities. Visitors will be able to enjoy works by artists such as Gabriel Chaile, Claudia Alarcón, Mondongo, Luis Ouvrard, Amadeo Azar, in addition to the Public Art Circuit that presents more than twenty large-scale installations.

On Monday, September 23, the celebrations will conclude with a conference entitled “Leonora Carrington and Remedios Varo. Magical Collaborations,” by Mexican historian Tere Arcq. The talk focuses on the collaborations between Carrington and Varo, especially highlighting the works that both artists have in the Malba Collection.
In addition to the anniversary program, the fourth participant of the Malba Writers' Residency (REM) 2024, the Chilean writer Alejandra Costamagna, will arrive in September. Author of works such as “En voz baja” and “El sistema del toque,” Costamagna will reside in Buenos Aires to research and advance her project “Aquí me quedo,” which explores loss and friendship in a political context. During her stay, Costamagna will participate in various literary activities, including an interview with Argentine writer Hernán Ronsino and a public reading of her unpublished work. She will also be part of the Buenos Aires International Literature Festival (Filba). The Malba Writers’ Residency is a program aimed at foreign authors that encourages literary development and cultural exchange, inviting participants to reside five weeks in the city.
The Malba is not only an architectural symbol; it is a platform that embodies a public and social mission, serving as a bridge between the public and the art world, bringing together artists, critics and collectors. This project, born from the personal passion of its founder Eduardo F. Costantini, has become a crucial cultural reference for the community and Latin American art.

All activities proposed by the Malba for this anniversary are free, although prior registration is required due to limited capacity. The complete program details specific activities for different audiences and locations within the museum and its new headquarters and can be found on the institution's website.
