Marcelo Nitor presents “Eccentrics”: “The book seeks to vindicate women artists”
The artist and writer will present his book this weekend. "I am more than happy that it is at Fundacruz," he expressed to La Opinión Austral.
After the presentation of “Eccentrics. Women in Latin American Art” at the 29th Provincial Book Fair held in Río Gallegos, continues the dissemination of the work of the visual artist and writer Marcelo Nitor.
“Nowadays finding spaces is difficult and I am more than happy that it is in Fundacruz, because it seems to me to be a super important space for the culture of our city,” the author told La Opinión Austral about the presentation that will take place this Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at the House of Culture, located at Gobernador Lista N° 60 in the provincial capital.
As Nitor said in the interview carried out by the Art and Culture supplement of La Opinión Austral, the book had its seed in the thesis with which he received the Faculty of Visual Arts at the Instituto Provincial Superior en Arte (IPSA).
It is worth mentioning that on the occasion of the presentation there will be copies for sale and a book signing.
“They are going to find a new look at what art history is, a parallelism, but that at the same time seeks parity. This is not about belittling men's art, it is about enriching what is already built with the contributions, imprints and art of Latin American women artists who do not appear in books or at least in the vast majority of books on art history. What ‘Excentrics’ seeks is to revitalize the work, to vindicate women artists, their work and their contribution to culture and how their art enriches what is already established,” he concluded.
"Eccentrics", by Marcelo Nitor, will be presented this Saturday.
