Peruvian artist Iván Fernández-Dávila exhibits “Fiesta” in Paris

The painter Iván Fernández-Dávila exhibits his work again in Paris, but this time in the facilities of the Sorbonne University in the so-called Galerie La Passerelle.

The Parisian public will be able to appreciate the work of the Peruvian painter from September 14 to October 6. It is the nineteenth individual exhibition of the author, to whom a few years ago the ICPNA dedicated an Anthological Exhibition (2004-2018) at its headquarters in Lima.

The exhibition titled “Fiesta” is made up of 22 oil paintings and watercolors in which Fernández-Dávila displays part of his personal universe in medium and small formats, highlighting the intimacy of the scenes of portraits, self-portraits, interiors or personal images related to classical mythologies.

As indicated by the curator of the exhibition, Walter Mamani, a Peruvian painter based in Paris, Fernández-Dávila's paintings embody the imagination of Peruvian society. Highlighting a selection of his recent works, as well as creations from his years of development, highlighting his personal style of Latin American lines and colors.

Tribute to Pablo Picasso

The exhibition is part of the celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Pablo Picasso, thus Fernández-Dávila joins the tributes to the innovative and stimulating genius of the renowned Spanish painter who in his work demonstrated that there are no immutable rules in art and that innovation is crucial for artistic evolution. Picasso's career, spanning more than seven decades, has had a profound impact on modern art and inspired numerous generations of artists.

Fernández-Dávila pays tribute to Picasso through his free and energetic gestures during the creation of his works. The vibrant colors of his paintings and festive scenes reflect his interpretation of Latin American society and folklore. The vibrant tones of cadmium mix with the melancholic and relaxing tones of blue.

In his watercolor studies, the artist captures the essence of Picasso's works that he considers important to revisit. In this way, the Peruvian artist, like the Spanish one, marks the linearity of his existence with self-portraits that dialogue with the History of Art.
