“Pura Routina” exhibition proposes reflection on everyday life

Exhibition created by Toró Coletivo de Arte can be seen at the IEA-RP Cultural Space from September 15th

The Cultural Space of the Institute of Advanced Studies Polo Ribeirão Preto (IEA-RP) at USP will host the Pura Rotina exhibition from September 15th, developed by Toró Coletivo de Arte. Visits can be made from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

The exhibition brings together six works and installations created with recyclable and non-recyclable materials that are part of everyday life, and aims to lead to a reflection on consumption and disposal, whether of things or people themselves. Message stickers, tax coupons and medication leaflets were some of the items used.

Pura Rotina is the result of research carried out by Toró Coletivo de Arte on everyday life, ourselves and the people around us. What we consume, how we consume it, why we consume it and, most importantly, how we deal with these issues. The exhibition talks about routine methodology, finances, mental and physical health, and, above all, the impact that the pursuit of well-being through the use of medication has on our lives. According to the organizers, the installations were created with the collaboration of many people who shared their intimacy, pains and problems, and all the content talks about how routine influences our lives.

Toró is a contemporary art collective from Ribeirão Preto that has been working with poetic interventions since 2018. Among its exhibitions and interventions, the most notable are Logradouro, held in 2019, Eu came to bring the word, held between 2019 and 2020, and Irremediável Neon, held in 2022. Currently, its members are Carolina Koff, Renato Grecco, Juliana de Camargo Cerdeira and Veri Santos.

Visits can be made until October 11th. The Cultural Space is located on the USP Ribeirão Preto campus, at Rua Pedreira de Freitas, house 20, close to the Central Building of the Faculty of Medicine.
