The director of the Reina Sofía Museum of Madrid, Manuel Segade, highlighted in a press conference that it is a long-term commitment to Latin American art, with an emphasis on Central America.
The main promoter of the program is the Salvadoran cultural manager and art collector Mario Cáder-Frech, who donated one million dollars for a period of 10 years to undertake the work.
'Through this platform, we want to ensure that the voices of our artists are part of the great global dialogue of contemporary art. I invite you to build together a legacy that transcends borders,' said Cáder-Frech.
The institute will allocate resources to research grants, acquisition of works and bibliographical funds this year, with a budget of more than 85 thousand euros.
Pstricio Majano, a Salvadoran artist, will be the first resident for nine months.
