Arco approaches the island's art sector with a visit to Es Baluard
The fair's director will visit the Palma museum on the 29th and will tour the exhibitions that will open that week
The Arco International Contemporary Art Fair will celebrate its 44th edition in Madrid from March 5 to 9, 2025. With an exceptional selection of national and international galleries, the event opens a broad dialogue between innovative proposals from the international scene.
A meeting that transcends the market to also encourage discovery, reflection and artistic research; but before that, its director, Maribel López, will visit Es Baluard on January 29 as part of the Círculo Arco program to meet personalities from the island's sector and tour the exhibitions that will open at the Palma museum that same week.
Among these personalities will be representatives of the four Ciutat galleries that this year participate in the most important artistic event in the country, which are Pelaires, Baró, Fermay and Florit/Florit. Also attending the event on the 29th at the Palma Museum of Contemporary Art will be authorities from the Balearic Government, the Consell de Mallorca and the Palma City Council.
In this edition of Arco, there will be a total of 179 galleries in the General Programme, in addition to those that will participate in the curated sections: Wametisé: ideas for an Amazonian futurism, Opening. New galleries, and Profiles and Latin American Art. The “solidity of the Spanish scene, as well as its richness and plurality”, according to the fair, will be reflected in the General Programme with the participation of spaces such as Alarcón Criado, ATM, Elba Benítez, Elvira González, CarrerasMugica, Luis Adelantado Valencia, Nordés, Prats Nogueras Blanchard, ProjecteSD, Sabrina Amrani or T20.
These are joined by international galleries with recent headquarters in Spain such as Carlier | Gebauer or Mai 36. In addition, from outside our borders Massimo Minini and Francesca Minini, Casas Riegner, depéndance, Gomide&Co, Plan B, Luciana Brito, Bernier/Eliades, Raquel Arnaud, Sylvia Kouvali or Waddington Custot will also be joining. The loyalty of others such as Thaddaeus Ropac, Jocelyn Wolff, Chantal Crousel, Ruth Benzacar, Peter Kilchmann, Lelong, Meyer Riegger, Perrotin, Neugerriemschneider, Esther Schipper and Thomas Schulte was also noted.
