A striking photographic tour: this is Malba Puertos, Eduardo Costantini's museum that opened in Escobar
The space located in Escobar offers the possibility of seeing works and touring an impressive natural space. Entrance to the premises is free. What are all the activities it offers.
Last month, Eduardo Costantini, founder and president of the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (Malba) achieved a new milestone in his commitment to Latin American culture and art by inaugurating Malba Puertos, the new headquarters of the Museum, in Escobar.
This innovative space seeks to bring art to a wider public by harmoniously integrating with the natural environment of Puertos, a development also designed by the businessman. Admission is free, reaffirming the objective of democratizing access to culture.
Malba Puertos is located just 50 kilometers from CABA, at the access to Puertos, a sustainable residential development. Its architecture combines modern design with respect for the natural landscape, becoming a bridge between art and nature.
This space is designed to offer an inclusive and versatile experience, adapting to various cultural and artistic activities. Designed with materials that blend into the environment, its structure seeks to create a dialogue between the works of art and the Escobar landscape.
Malba Puertos: what activities does the Escobar museum offer
The museum is made up of different areas that include exhibition halls, an open-air art circuit and a technical reserve.
The latter allows visitors to access pieces that are part of the Malba Collection and the Eduardo Costantini Collection, many of which are not usually on permanent display. This space also offers a unique look at the processes of conservation and storage of works of art, adding educational value to the visitor experience.
Among the featured exhibitions is La vida que aprovecha, located in the Chaile Pavilion, which proposes a dialogue between the sculptures of Gabriel Chaile, recognized for their presentation at the 2022 Venice Biennale, and textile works by Claudia Alarcón and the Silät collective.
The diversity of materials and the richness of traditions represented in this exhibition will be available to the public until March 2025. Another must-see proposal is Acto reflejo, a series of watercolors by Amadeo Azar that connect the works in the collection with the region's native flora and fauna.
The paintings establish a visual and conceptual link between art and the biodiversity of the Puertos environment. In addition, in the Salas del Bosque, Mueble escultura explores the boundary between functionality and aesthetics in everyday objects, questioning the relationship between art and utility. Both exhibitions can also be visited until March 2025.
The open-air art circuit includes 23 works distributed in different parts of Puertos, promoting the integration of art with the landscape. These pieces, in dialogue with the Central Lake and the Luján River Nature Reserve, offer a visual experience that invites us to reflect on the relationship between humans and their environment.
The sculptures and structures interact with the environment, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in an artistic journey while enjoying nature.
Malba Puertos not only expands the possibilities of access to art, but also enriches Escobar's cultural offering. With this new venue, the legacy of Costantini and Malba continues to grow, bringing Latin American art to an increasingly diverse public.
This new cultural space, conceived to connect people with art and the environment, promises to consolidate itself as a reference for lovers of art and nature. A destination that will undoubtedly become a must-see in the region.
