Women's Art, from the Ella Fontanals-Cisneros Collection, at MARCO

For the first time, an exhibition is dedicated exclusively to the women artists who are part of the collection of Ella Fontanals-Cisneros, a Cuban-born art patron who began purchasing Latin American art in the 1970s and whose collection became one of the most important in modern and contemporary art. The exhibition "Dialogues. Women Artists in the Ella Fontanals-Cisneros Collection" features 160 works by 71 artists, including Marina Abramovic, Ana Mendieta, Bárbara Kruger, Chantal Ackerman, and Gego, and opened yesterday at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey (MARCO).

The tour, divided into three sections that address avant-garde movements, social themes, and the body as a political territory, seeks to showcase the history of modern and contemporary art through the lens of women's art, a factor that makes a difference in the narrative, says Sergio Fontanella, Director of Operations and Collections for the foundation that manages the collection.
